CryptPad is a private-by-design alternative to popular office tools and cloud services. All the content stored on CryptPad is encrypted before being sent, which means nobody can access your data unless you give them the keys.
CryptPad provides a full-fledged office suite with all the tools necessary for productive collaboration. Applications include: Rich Text, Spreadsheets, Code/Markdown, Kanban, Slides, Whiteboard and Forms.
All data on CryptPad is encrypted in the browser. This means no readable data leaves the user's device. Even the service administrators cannot see the content of documents or user data.
CryptPad is built to enable collaboration with features such as team drives, calendar, and sharing. It synchronizes changes to documents in real time. Because all data is encrypted, the service and its administrators have no way of seeing the content being edited and stored.
Our app puts three core values to the fore: simplicity, visualization, and consensus.
By creating an infinite canvas where cards, much like sticking notes, resemble a neatly organized collection of inter-related ideas. They serve as units of thoughts with clear borders, displayed on a squeaky-clean white canvas.
To preclude the document from becoming messy as the number of cards augments, we betted on functions that are clear-cut and intuitive. They include dragโnโdrops; deep dive; tabs within a document; embedded pictures, videos, and links; sub-pages. As a result, the users get a well-organized, easy-to-navigate space.
Rather than providing bits and pieces of scattered information, the tool gives you a birdโs-eye view of the cards, creating the big picture.
Pillared by simplicity and visualization, the app offers a collaborative space for teams to work together in real-time, sharing cards and elaborating on ideas.
CryptPad xTiles AppI switched from Notion because xtiles is a simple but powerful tool for knowledge management. It's not about functionality, but about use cases, that both products help with. For instance, if you need to create a strict knowledge base for the team and save data, then the notion works. But if you want to save your knowledge and reuse it in the future - you'll definitely get more value using xtiles. Great product!

This wouldn't address building an actual E2EE service. This is a hard issue. CryptPad [1] does this but it has strong limitations inherent to a fully E2EE system. I'm looking for the same. Open source, self hosted, and end-to-end encrypted. I haven't found anything that really does all of this, but it seems like Cryptpad[0] and Peergos[1] are viable platforms upon which something like this could be built. I see that they claim all of their apps and libraries are open source[0]. But they only link to the OpenPGP libraries they're using. Is this actually open source? Following the "Open Source" footer link[1], here they only link to the ProtonMail Github account with nothing mentioning ProtonDrive. I would highly recommend xtiles. After trying, notion, obsidian, logseq, craft, anytype, slite, and many other alternatives, I decided to go for Xtiles. If you are not writing a novel or very long texts it is an amazing tool to gather information and put down and organize whatโs on your mind. Give it a shot . Source: over 3 years ago
