About CrossUI Studio and Open Devdocs

In their own words, as submitted to SaaSHub.

CrossUI Studio
Open Devdocs

CrossUI Studio is a visual IDE for React and MUI (and shadcn/ui). Code and canvas stay in two-way sync on the same AST: edit code and the canvas updates live; click an element on the canvas, change a prop, and you get a one-line diff in the actual file — not a 200-line rewrite. The idea is...

Features and specs

What each product offers, as listed by its team.

CrossUI Studio 6 features
Open Devdocs 0 features
  • Symmetric Collaborative Development
Code ⇌ canvas, live and AST-precise. Design is code. Code is design. Both kept friendly to humans and AI.
  • Layer Drill-down Engine
Penetrate .map iterations, ternary branches, and slot children to design individual nodes in isolation. Mock data auto-injected.
  • Instant Dependency Runtime
Skip npm install entirely. Write an import, the engine streams the ESM from CDN, the canvas renders.
  • Intent Integrity
Scalpel-level AST patches. Touch a prop, only that prop moves. Your comments, formatting, and business logic come out untouched.
  • Data Sovereignty
AES-GCM tokens with physical key/lock separation. Salt in the cloud, ciphertext in your browser — combined in memory, only at request time.
  • No Vendor Lock-in
Standard React output. No private runtime, no closed dependencies. Leave Studio any day — your project keeps building, anywhere.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CrossUI Studio and Open Devdocs.

What makes your product unique?

CrossUI Studio's answer

CrossUI Studio doesn't export, fork, or own a runtime — your source code stays the source of truth. Code and canvas are kept in two-way sync on the same AST, so a visual change on the canvas becomes a clean one-line diff in your real file, not a 200-line rewrite. It also drills into deep layers (.map, ternary, children) and builds a dependency graph from static AST that still renders even when your app has crashed.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

CrossUI Studio's answer

React, TypeScript, AST parsing (abstract syntax tree analysis), MUI, and the File System Access API for local-folder workspaces. It runs entirely in the browser — no build step, no server-side code upload.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CrossUI Studio's answer

Most visual editors (v0, Plasmic, Builder.io, Locofy) break with your real codebase — they generate, export, fork, or wrap a runtime, so the tool and your repo drift apart. CrossUI Studio works directly on your AST, so every visual edit is a reviewable one-line diff your team can actually merge. No lock-in: stop using it tomorrow and nothing breaks. And it understands MUI deeply (sx tree editor, responsive prop promotion, design tokens) instead of treating React as generic markup.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CrossUI Studio's answer

React developers and small teams who maintain real React + MUI (and shadcn/ui) codebases and want a visual canvas that respects their source code and git history. Especially people who use AI to write logic but need a faster, surgical way to do the last-mile UI tuning.

What's the story behind your product?

CrossUI Studio's answer

I built the original CrossUI, an open-source UI framework with 2k+ GitHub stars, so I've spent years on the gap between visual editing and real code. Using AI to build every day, I kept hitting one wall: AI is great at logic but bad at pixel-level UI tuning — ask for a little more padding and it rewrites 200 lines and burns tokens. So I built Studio as the visual half of AI development: AI writes the logic, Studio tunes the UI, and your code stays the source of truth.

The four things above — opening a real project with no setup, clicking between code and canvas, drilling through layers, seeing what depends on what — are all things we built into CrossUI Studio, mostly for other reasons. Each one links... - Source: dev.to / 12 days ago
