Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Con-trak and Corecon.

What's the story behind your product?

Con-trak's answer

Con-trak was built for a problem every construction operator knows: by the time you find out a job is losing money, it's too late to fix it. Expenses get logged days late, payroll disputes eat into margins, and head office often has no real-time view of what's happening on site. Con-trak puts expense tracking, labour and payroll, material control, and budget alerts into one app that site teams actually use in the moment - so cost data is live instead of reconstructed after the fact. It's built to scale from a solo contractor to a multi-site enterprise portfolio.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Con-trak's answer

Con-trak is pre-launch, so we don't have named customers yet -- but here's who we're building for:

  • Solo contractors and small crews (1-15 people) who are still running budgets and labour off spreadsheets or paper
  • General contractors juggling 3-10 active residential or light-commercial projects at once
  • Subcontractors (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting) who need to track their own costs and crew hours across multiple job sites
  • Construction operations teams who only find out a job is over budget after it's too late to fix it
  • Multi-site contractor businesses that need head office to see live cost and progress data instead of waiting on end-of-week reports
  • Growing construction firms scaling from a single crew to a multi-project, multi-site operation

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Con-trak's answer

Most construction tools are either heavy, office-focused platforms or single-purpose apps (just time tracking, or just photos). Con-trak brings the whole site workflow into one app โ€” labor, expenses, materials, punch lists, and client reports live in one place instead of being stitched together after the fact, so you always know a job's real profitability, not just an estimate.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Con-trak's answer

General and specialty contractors, from solo operators to larger construction groups running multiple crews and jobsites. It's built for people who need to manage work from the field โ€” foremen and site supervisors logging daily activity, and owners/PMs who need accurate labor, cost, and progress data without chasing paperwork.

What makes your product unique?

Con-trak's answer

Con-trak brings the entire jobsite workflow into one app โ€” attendance, expense capture with receipt photos, punch lists with photo-gated completion, change orders, drawings and plans storage, and client-facing progress reports generated straight from logged data. Instead of guessing whether a job is profitable until the final invoice, you see real-time budget, labour, and material costs as the work happens.
