Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Competera and Flares.tech.

What makes your product unique?

Flares.tech's answer:

Most competitive intelligence tools monitor everything a competitor does and leave you to sort out what mattered. Flares works from a structured business profile instead: for each competitor it builds a profile from their public online presence: what they sell, who they target, how they price, how they position, and reports when something in that profile changes. A signal is a change to the profile, not another mention of a competitor's name, so noise is designed out rather than filtered afterwards.

Two things follow from that. Every signal ships with its "so what" and a recommended move attached, so the output is a decision rather than more reading. And the intelligence is delivered where decisions actually get made: a weekly digest, live sales battlecards, and an MCP server that lets the whole competitive picture be queried from Claude, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf or any MCP-compatible assistant.

Setup is 30 seconds and free: enter a company URL and Flares builds the profile itself.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Flares.tech's answer:

It's built for teams with no dedicated competitive intelligence analyst. The established platforms are genuinely good, and they're designed around a CI function: someone to own the framework, curate the content, keep it current. Most companies don't have that person. Flares assumes they don't: setup is a URL, the competitor profile is built for you, and the digest arrives whether or not anyone remembered to log in.

It's designed against the category's one universal complaint. We read and coded 500 G2 reviews across the four leading CI platforms and published the results. Of 181 distinct complaint themes, exactly one is raised by at least 3% of every single tool's reviewers: alert noise. Flares targets that directly: a handful of profile changes per competitor per week, each with a recommendation, and an explicit "nothing meaningful happened" when that's the truth.

Intelligence reaches the last mile. Battlecards and reports are queryable over MCP from the AI assistant your team already uses, so competitive context shows up inside the live deal instead of in a portal someone has to remember to open.

Pricing is public and starts small. $59/month for 3 competitors, $129/month for 10, larger portfolios priced custom. Free setup, no setup fee, 14-day free trial, cancel anytime.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Flares.tech's answer:

B2B teams that need to stay ahead of competitors but have nobody whose full-time job is watching them.

Primary: product marketing managers who own positioning and messaging; product managers who need competitor moves to inform the roadmap; sales and pre-sales teams who need current battlecards inside live deals; and sales enablement, who have to stop that content from going stale.

Also: founders and C-level at startups and scale-ups, where competitive intelligence is one hat among many; and VC and PE firms tracking the competitive landscape across a portfolio.

Industry-agnostic — it works for any business whose competitors have a public online presence, which in practice means SaaS, e-commerce, marketplaces, agencies and services.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Flares.tech's answer:

React, Node, Claude, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS 4, shadcn/ui on Radix primitives
