I've used Discord for Risus, with https://collabedit.com for a shared character sheet (that is, one sheet for everybodyโI find it more convenient as the GM, and it's not like a huge amount of space is required). One of my best recommendations is to spin up a linux server in the cloud, you can do it for free for a few months from linode.com for example.
