I know exactly what you mean: de-scrambling sentences and lists because of those damn columns sucks, but being blind, and with relatively few pdf, text, doc, etc, or interactive cyoas, it's complicated. The best OCR I have come across on the internet is the one on onlineocr.net however its page limit makes its paid version not worth buying.
