I'd recommend to play around with some basic coding challenges on leetcode.com or codewars.com. If the course prepared you well you won't find this useful, but playing around with them will make sure that you are comfortable with basics such as loops, if statements etc. Source: about 3 years ago

I'd advise just starting off with a basic Wordpress/Woocommerce, just buy a decent theme and good hosting, the rest of the setup won't be that much more work than setting everything up on another platform, as you say it doesn't need to be perfect, just work.
