Couldn't you just add the adults as testers to the Google Play app, avoiding oversight? The problem with breaking off from Google Play is you lose the ability to send push notifications. If you use multiple, it may be worth using a site like feature.fm or a similar site to create a single smart link which has sublinks to all the other platforms so they can choose the platform of their liking, and allows you to keep your marketing to one link per social if possible.
