TrackZero was founded in October 2023 by people who had done this before. Alan Wilson (CEO) co-founded MoreTrees, acquired by THG PLC within six months of launch. Alan also co-founded Expandly, acquired by GEE. Oliver Waters (CPO) founded Momento, named Apple's App of the Year Runner-Up in Europe. And, Steven Waterfall (CTO) brought engineering leadership from multiple startups.

The idea came from conversations with sustainability, procurement and supply-chain teams through 2023. The same story kept coming up: enterprises sending carbon questionnaires suppliers didn't understand, consultants too expensive to scale and data too inconsistent to act on. One logistics business had lost a contract because it couldn't answer a carbon questionnaire during procurement. Carbon reporting had turned into a condition of doing business, and no one had built the infrastructure to make it work for both sides.

Cranfield University came in early as strategic advisor, pre-seed investor and eventually a customer through its Ready for Net Zero programme. Their sustainability academics validated the methodology against GHG Protocol standards and DEFRA emission factors before the first enterprise customer signed on.

The platform is a web-based SaaS running on cloud infrastructure, engineered to ISO 27001 information security standards. Every calculation is fully traceable, so auditors and finance teams can review evidence, methodology and figures directly in the platform rather than rebuilding numbers from scratch.
