As answered by people managing CodeinCloud and ParcelOps.co.za.
ParcelOps.co.za's answer:
ParcelOps is built specifically for South African courier companies rather than adapted from an overseas product. Route optimisation runs on the South African road network, billing handles rand tariffs with fuel surcharges and local payment reconciliation, and data is hosted in South Africa under POPIA.
It is also all-inclusive. Waybills, collections and dispatch, driver tracking, route optimisation, invoicing, a white-label customer portal, reporting and API access come in one plan with no per-module licensing. Pricing is based on the waybills processed each month rather than per user, so unlimited office staff and drivers can use the system without increasing cost.
ParcelOps.co.za's answer:
Most courier operations in South Africa still run on desktop-installed software, or on a combination of spreadsheets and messaging groups filling the gaps between disconnected tools. ParcelOps replaces both with a single cloud platform covering the full operating cycle from booking to invoice.
The practical differences: nothing to install, so the office works in a browser and drivers use a progressive web app on the phones they already own; every feature is included rather than licensed module by module; cost scales with the waybills you process instead of the people you employ; and onboarding takes days rather than a multi-month implementation, starting from a free trial that provisions a branded workspace in minutes.
ParcelOps.co.za's answer:
Independent courier, freight and last-mile delivery companies operating in South Africa — from owner-run operations with a single vehicle to multi-hub regional carriers with 5 to 50 operations staff and fleets of own and contracted drivers.
Day-to-day users are owners and managing directors, operations and dispatch managers, warehouse and scanning staff, drivers on the road, and finance teams handling invoicing. The white-label portal extends to each courier's own customers, who book shipments and track deliveries themselves.
ParcelOps.co.za's answer:
ParcelOps was built after seeing how much of South African courier operations still runs on software designed for a different era — desktop systems tied to an office, licences sold module by module, and the spreadsheets and WhatsApp groups that fill the gaps between them.
The aim was a platform built for how couriers actually work now: browser-based for the office, mobile-first for drivers, self-service for their customers, and priced so a small operator can start on the same system they will still be running at ten times the volume. It is developed in South Africa, for South African operators.
ParcelOps.co.za's answer:
Backend: TypeScript and Node.js on NestJS, PostgreSQL via Prisma, and Redis with Bull for background job processing.
Frontend: React and TypeScript for the operations dashboard, customer portal and driver progressive web app; Next.js for the public website.
Routing and geospatial: a self-hosted OSRM instance carrying the South African road network, Google OR-Tools for multi-stop vehicle routing, and Mapbox for maps and geocoding.
Infrastructure: containerised services hosted in South Africa, S3-compatible object storage, and a documented REST API with signed outbound webhooks.
