Most local dev tools were built years ago for x86 architectures and shoved into Docker containers or legacy wrappers. OXAMP is built natively from scratch for Apple Silicon (M1–M4). What really sets us apart, though, is how we handle modern AI coding workflows. We’ve integrated a native MCP server with strict guardrails. You can let AI agents like Claude Code or Cursor start your stack, create DBs, or install WordPress and Laravel—without worrying about them accidentally running DROP DATABASE or ruining your local environment.

What's the story behind your product?

OXAMP's answer:

As developers working on modern Macs, we got tired of active cooling fans spinning up just to run a basic local PHP site. Legacy tools felt bloated, Docker was overkill for quick projects, and when we started using AI coding agents, we realized how dangerous it was to give them unrestricted access to local databases. We built OXAMP to solve our own problem: a lightning-fast, native Apple Silicon stack with built-in AI guardrails.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

OXAMP's answer:

The app itself is built natively for macOS using Swift and Rust for peak performance and zero overhead. The bundled stack includes Apache, MariaDB, PHP (multi-version support), and phpMyAdmin—compiled directly for Apple Silicon (arm64). It also includes a custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for safe AI agent integration.
