Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Codegres.org and Sunshine Atlas.

What makes your product unique?

Sunshine Atlas's answer:

It answers "where is it sunny?" with measured climate data instead of opinion listicles. You spin an interactive globe and repaint the whole world by sunshine, warmth or rainfall for any month, and every one of the 3,800+ places carries a single 0 to 100 Sunshine Score built from long-term climate normals. Every destination is served by a real airport, so anywhere you point, you can actually go.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Sunshine Atlas's answer:

Most weather sites start from a place you have already chosen and show its forecast. Sunshine Atlas works the other way round: pick a month, see where on Earth is sunny, warm or dry, then drill into any destination. It is completely free with no signup, compares 3,800+ airport-served destinations on one 0 to 100 scale, and every place is somewhere you can actually fly to.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Sunshine Atlas's answer:

Travellers deciding where to go for good weather, especially anyone planning a winter-sun escape or picking a warm base for a month or two. It also fits digital nomads and remote workers choosing a destination by climate, and curious people who just want to know where on Earth is sunniest right now.

What's the story behind your product?

Sunshine Atlas's answer:

It began with a question the internet answers badly: "where is it actually sunny in November?" The usual result is a listicle. Sunshine Atlas replaces opinion with measurement, turning decades of satellite climate data (NASA POWER) into one interactive globe you can paint by sunshine, warmth or rainfall for any month. The recommendation comes from real long-term numbers, not a top-ten post, and it stays free with no signup.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Sunshine Atlas's answer:

A static site built with Vite and React, with a custom WebGL globe for the interactive map, so it stays fast on phones without a heavy mapping library. The climate layer is modelled from NASA POWER satellite climatology; the basemap is Natural Earth; place, elevation and airport data come from GeoNames and OurAirports. Everything is prerendered to static pages, so there is no backend to slow it down.
