WinCDEmuWinCDEmu is recommended for users who frequently work with ISO and other disc image formats, need a straightforward tool for virtual drive management, or prefer open-source software solutions over commercial options.
Based on our record, WinCDEmu seems to be a lot more popular than Code42. While we know about 28 links to WinCDEmu, we've tracked only 1 mention of Code42. We are tracking product recommendations and mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you identify which product is more popular and what people think of it.
It's not a big surprise, given that Code42 (the parent company) pretends they have nothing to do with Crashplan. They've done a massive pivot to some kind of security company, with ZERO references to the OG product of Crashplan on code42.com, which (I'm guessing) is the bulk of their revenue. If you do a site search on google, you'll find some old links, but they just push you over to crashplan.com. Source: about 4 years ago
If you just want to make a simple backup, you can create an image file of your CDs and upload them to somewhere like the Internet Archive to preserve their content. There are various software capable of creating image files, including InfraRecorder and WinCDEmu. Here's a simple guide on how to create an ISO image file from a CD or DVD. Source: about 3 years ago
Despite what the page says, the file in question is actually a .img file, which won't be accepted by most programs out of the box. To convert it into a more usable .iso format, I would recommend using WinCDEmu for Windows, but other CD-related tools should be able to do the job as well. I don't know of any solutions for MacOS or Linux; comments for those platforms would be appreciated! Source: about 3 years ago
What? oh. I used this version from the wayback machine, and then opened the iso with THIS handy dandy and quite small tool! I do that with a lot of games actually,. Source: about 3 years ago
Use WinCDEmu to mount the ISO, not the built-in Windows "Mount" command. Source: about 3 years ago
I downloaded Preinstalled ZIP folder (2.26GB) and used WinCDEmu (an open-source CD/DVD/BD emulator) to mount the file. This is because the games were originally released on CDs or DVDs. ISOs and ROMs are basically electronic versions of the original game discs. OGD has a guide on all of this. Source: about 3 years ago
