Analysis of Backup Platinum

Overall verdict

  • I don't have verified information about Backup Platinum (backup-platinum.com), so I can't confirm its legitimacy, reliability, or quality. Before trusting it with your data, you should independently research the company, check for verified user reviews, confirm business registration, and test their support and restore processes.

Why this product is good

  • Insufficient verified data available to confirm this service is trustworthy or high-performing
  • Backup services vary widely in reliability, security, and data recovery success rates, so claims should be independently verified
  • Unknown or lesser-known backup providers carry higher risk of poor encryption practices, weak customer support, or business instability
  • Legitimate backup providers typically have transparent pricing, clear SLAs, third-party security audits, and verifiable customer reviews, which should be checked directly

Recommended for

  • Users who first verify the company's reputation through independent reviews (e.g., Trustpilot, Reddit, BBB) before signing up
  • Individuals willing to test the service with a free trial or small dataset before committing important backups
  • Anyone who cross-checks encryption standards, data center locations, and compliance certifications (like SOC 2 or ISO 27001) before trusting sensitive data to this provider
  • Users who maintain a secondary backup with a well-established provider (e.g., Backblaze, Acronis, iDrive) as a safeguard until this service's credibility is confirmed

  • Looking for the best cloud backup for all my files
It's not a big surprise, given that Code42 (the parent company) pretends they have nothing to do with Crashplan. They've done a massive pivot to some kind of security company, with ZERO references to the OG product of Crashplan on code42.com, which (I'm guessing) is the bulk of their revenue. If you do a site search on google, you'll find some old links, but they just push you over to crashplan.com. Source: about 4 years ago
