What's the story behind your product?

Clearhavn's answer:

Ryan Marshall built Clearhavn after going through his own family-law case and realizing the existing tools fell into three buckets: spreadsheets that fell apart at 50 events, iPhone-only apps stuck in a one-time-purchase model from a decade ago, or enterprise legal software priced for law firms. There wasn't a calm, modern, cross-platform tool built for the parent — just for the lawyer or the time tracker.

Clearhavn is what he needed at 11 PM on a Sunday trying to assemble a chronology before a Wednesday hearing. It's now used by self-represented parents and clients of family-law attorneys to organize their case into a clear, court-ready record.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Clearhavn's answer:

  • Web: Next.js 15 (App Router) with TypeScript, deployed on Vercel with Cloudflare DNS.
  • Mobile: native iOS app built with Expo (React Native), sharing a custom HMAC-signed bearer-token API with the web backend.
  • Data: Neon Postgres with Drizzle ORM. Cloudflare R2 for evidence file storage.
  • Auth & billing: Auth.js v5 for web sessions. Stripe for subscriptions.
