The all-in-one development platform for AI apps.

Powabase is the all-in-one development platform for AI apps. Comes with RAG, agents, drag & drop workflows. Fine-tuned for AI coding agents and popular vibe coding platforms. Open-sourceย (MIT license) available for self-hosting.

What makes Powabase different

  • RAG out of the box. Embeddings, vector search, and retrieval pipelines are first-class citizens. Build semantic search and grounded AI features on your own data in minutes.
  • Agents, built in. Define, run, and orchestrate AI agents natively on the platform. No glue code, no separate orchestration layer โ€” your data, your logic, and your agents all live in one place.
  • Drag & drop workflows. Compose powerful AI pipelines visually. Connect data, models, and actions on a canvas anyone on your team can understand and iterate on. Use the built-in copilot to build workflows using natural language.
  • Fine-tuned for AI coding agents. Powabase is purpose-built to be driven by AI coding assistants. Clean, predictable APIs, agent skills (npx skills add powabase-ai/agent-skills), and an MCP server mean your agents generate working backends correctly, with minimal token waste and iteration.
  • Integrations Integrates directly with Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity, OpenCode, Replit, Base44, Lovable, v0, Bolt.new, and others!

The full backend, still included

Underneath the AI layer sits everything you expect from a serious platform: real open-source Postgres, instant auto-generated APIs, built-in auth and storage, and a polished Studio to manage it all. Open, portable, and self-hostable.

From idea to intelligent app

Spin up isolated projects in seconds, wire up RAG and agents through a unified control plane, and deploy with confidence. Powabase collapses the entire AI stack โ€” database, retrieval, agents, and workflows โ€” into one cohesive platform.

Powabase โ€” the fastest way to build, ship, and scale AI apps.

Possible disadvantages of Codacy

  • High Cost for Large Teams
While Codacy offers a free tier, the pricing can become quite expensive for larger teams and organizations, which could be a limiting factor for widespread adoption.
  • Initial Configuration Complexity
Setting up Codacy to match specific project requirements can be complex and time-consuming, requiring significant effort to configure all the necessary rules and integrations.
  • Occasional False Positives
Some users have reported instances of false positives, where Codacy flags code that does not actually have any issues. This can lead to wasted time and potential confusion.
  • Performance Issues
Codacy can sometimes slow down during code analysis, particularly for large projects, which can impact developer productivity.
  • Learning Curve
For teams that are new to code analysis tools, there may be a learning curve involved in understanding and effectively utilizing Codacy's comprehensive feature set.

Powabase features and specs

  • PostgreSQL Database
Postgres with RLS, a first-class auth service, object storage, and realtime. Access it through PostgREST, the REST/GraphQL-style API, or a direct database connection.
  • RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
Upload PDFs, images, office files, or URLs โ€” Powabase extracts, chunks, embeds, and indexes them. Built-in OCR 91% accuracy (OlmOCR-Bench). RAG pipeline 98.7% accuracy (FinanceBench). BM25, pgvector, hybrid search, and SOTA rerankers included. Handles multimodal content indexing.
  • Multi-Agent Orchestration
Define ReAct orchestrations with multiple LLMs, knowledge bases, and tools. Runs stream over SSE with fully logged retrieval events, tool calls, token deltas, and citations. Sessions track multi-turn state. Use built-in tools like web search and code execute or add your own tools over HTTP or MCP.
  • Workflow Automation
Build multi-step agent workflows by dragging and connecting blocks: triggers, conditions, agents, HTTP calls, code. Ask the natural-language copilot to design the flow for you. Deploy a workflow and turn it into an HTTP endpoint.
  • Agent-Native Integration
Optimized for use with popular coding agents like Claude Code, Codex, Anti-gravity, Open Code, Cursor, etc.
  • MCP Server
Streamline agent-to-API communications with MCP support.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Codacy and Powabase.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Powabase's answer:

Powabase is designed for developers and serious vibe coders familiar with coding agents interested in building AI-native applications. Powabase is also ideal for agency owners looking to expand their service offerings into full-stack application development and managed hosting.

What's the story behind your product?

Powabase's answer:

We, the founders of Powabase, have been running an AI dev shop since ChatGPT first came out. After many client projects we noticed the same pattern repeating itself. Nearly every AI-native app ends up needing the same stack: Postgres, a vector store, RAG pipelines, an agent runtime, memory, auth, and file storage.

Today you stitch that together from 6โ€“8 tools, write a lot of glue code, and then watch your coding agent burn tokens navigating it. We've built ~100 production AI apps across regulated industries โ€” finance, insurance, education, government โ€” and the infra glue was always the slowest, most expensive part.

So we abstracted it into a unified backend. Powabase is the backend we wished we'd had โ€” and now every new AI project we take on ships in a fraction of the time.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Powabase's answer:

Supabase (open source), Docker, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, PaddleOCR, IONOS, OpenRouter, Exa, Firecrawl, and AWS.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Powabase's answer:

  • Axa
  • MIT
  • Cegid
  • OACIQ
  • Evergreen Therapeutics
  • Ryden Solutions

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Powabase's answer:

Powabase is built for how AI apps are actually developed and run today.

It starts with token efficiency. During the build, clean, predictable APIs let AI coding agents do more with fewer tokens โ€” fewer failed generations, less context burned re-explaining your backend. In production, optimized RAG fetches exactly what's needed instead of bloating every prompt, keeping costs low on every request at scale.

That efficiency sits on a genuinely open foundation. Powabase runs on real, open-source Postgres with no black boxes and no lock-in. Your data and infrastructure stay yours, and you can self-host anytime.

It's also built for speed to production. Spin up projects in seconds and ship without assembling a stack, because database, APIs, auth, storage, RAG, and agents are ready the moment you start. Those out-of-the-box abstractions โ€” with RAG, agents, and drag-and-drop workflows built in โ€” mean your team builds product instead of plumbing.

And you're never building alone: an active, open community gives you fast answers, shared patterns, and a platform that improves with every contributor.
