Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CloudShell and ServerPlane.xyz.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ServerPlane.xyz's answer:

ServerPlane's agent is built with GoLang.

What makes your product unique?

ServerPlane.xyz's answer:

ServerPlane allows multiple runtimes like PHP, NodeJS, Python as well as docker images to co-exist in a single VM unlike competitors who support only one stack per VM. In addition, ServerPlane also allows users to load-balance their application in just a click. When you are running a successful SaaS, whenever the load hits the maximum ceiling of the cloud server you are running, you can spin up another server and split the application load between two servers, all in a matter click. Likewise, you can also set up database replications in a click. This makes ServerPlane an ideal candidate for applications that need to scale immediately without any issues.

In addition, ServerPlane also supports CI/CD with GitHub auto-pulls. Whenever you push update, all your deployments using the repo will be updated to latest version. You can set migrations to happen automatically too. This allows SaaS operations and Agency operations butter smooth.

What's the story behind your product?

ServerPlane.xyz's answer:

ServerPlane was meant to be a private tool for use under Cenmax. We built it to reduce dependency on legacy software stacks such as DirectAdmin and cPanel while supporting modern stacks such as NodeJS, Next, etc. As we built the tool, we realized that this product will be useful for Agencies and developers alike and so we decided not to restrict the users to use only our cloud, but use any cloud that they would naturally prefer.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ServerPlane.xyz's answer:

ServerPlane is a feature-rich solution that can be used by multiple distinct use-cases.

  • Agencies - It can be used by agencies that develop and maintain WordPress sites. With one-click updates, backups, and WordPress-related tools such as plugins, themes, and checksum management, ServerPlane acts as a full scale WordPress management suite.
  • SaaS - With the power of API, SaaS operators can add their private Github repo and make a recipe. They can call the API whenever they want to install a new application instance for a client and it will be done in minutes. Plus, whenever they push changes to main branch, every application instance that uses the repo will automatically update and migrations will run. This will make the CI/CD process much simple.
  • Developers and Hobbyists - Most of the developers would need to run their websites and small SaaS applications on the cloud. The current scenario is that for each stack they need to buy a different VPS. Which is not required with ServerPlane. ServerPlane allows the developers to run PHP, Python, JS based apps in a single VPS - they co-exist without bothering others. The beauty is that individual developers can run n8n, their personal WordPress blog, their project management system (Laravel, Django, Express, or anything) in a single VPS.
