Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CloudConvert and MyTools.

What makes your product unique?

MyTools's answer:

MyTools runs entirely in your browser — your files are never uploaded to a server, so there's nothing to store and nothing to delete. It bundles 52 single-purpose tools for PDF, image, video and audio in one place: all free, with no account, no installation and no watermarks. Most "free" online file tools upload your files, gate features behind a signup or paywall, or stamp watermarks on the output. MyTools does none of these.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

MyTools's answer:

It's genuinely free with no catch: no signup, no email, no trial limits, no watermarks, nothing to install. Because every tool is client-side, it's private by design (files never leave your device) and fast (no upload/download round-trip). And instead of one narrow tool, you get 52 covering PDF, image, video and audio — so it replaces a dozen separate sites. Available in English, French and Spanish. More coming.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

MyTools's answer:

Everyday people and professionals who hit a quick file problem and just need it solved — students, office workers, freelancers, small-business owners, content creators — who don't want to install software, create an account, or pay a subscription for a one-off task like compressing a PDF, cropping an image, or rotating a video.

What's the story behind your product?

MyTools's answer:

MyTools grew out of rotatepdf.net, a single-purpose site its founder, Philippe Bernard, built about sixteen years ago to do exactly one thing — rotate an upside-down PDF — with no installation and completely free. It quickly reached over a thousand visitors a day, proving people just wanted something that worked without the overhead. Over the years he built more tools — PDF-to-JPG, image utilities and others — and MyTools brings them all together into one free, privacy-first collection.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

MyTools's answer:

Next.js (App Router) and React, internationalized with next-intl (English/French/Spanish), styled with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/Radix UI. File processing happens in the browser: FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly for video and audio; pdf-lib, jsPDF and pdf.js for PDFs; client-side libraries for image compression/cropping/HEIC and for Office conversions (docx, pptxgenjs, mammoth). Error monitoring via Sentry.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

MyTools's answer:

MyTools is a free, no-signup consumer tool with no accounts, so it has no customers or client list. It's used anonymously by individuals worldwide, with over 200 million files processed to date.
