As answered by people managing Clockify and Chronoid.
Chronoid's answer:
Chronoid combines automatic macOS activity tracking with local-first privacy, project and billing workflows, focus tools, and a built-in MCP server for AI assistants. It records useful work context across apps, websites, documents, and supported resource paths without manual timers. The activity database stays on your Mac by default, and Chronoid does not record keystrokes or screenshots.
Chronoid's answer:
Choose Chronoid if you want accurate automatic tracking without a recurring subscription, and you want control over detailed work data. It turns activity into project time, reports, invoices, and focus insights. Its rules organize work automatically, while its built-in MCP server lets compatible AI assistants answer questions about tracked time and support selected workflow actions.
Chronoid's answer:
Chronoid is built first for freelancers, solo consultants, and small agencies that bill by the hour and do not want to lose billable time to forgotten timers. It is also useful for creative professionals, remote workers, and developers using AI-assisted workflows who want a private record of where their workday went.
Chronoid's answer:
Chronoid was built by Vu Nguyen, a Mac developer and freelancer who spent years forgetting timers, guessing invoice hours, and under-billing. The product began as a way to capture work automatically, keep the data local, and offer an alternative to another subscription
