Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CleverTools.in and TrueJson.

What makes your product unique?

CleverTools.in's answer

  1. India-first, not India-as-an-afterthought. Most online tool sites bolt on a generic tax calculator. CleverTools is built around the actual Indian financial year โ€” FY 2025-26 New Regime slabs with the โ‚น12L Section 87A rebate, post-Budget 2024 capital-gains rates (STCG 20% / LTCG 12.5% / โ‚น1.25L equity exemption), Section 211 advance-tax instalment schedule with Section 234C interest exposure, and 14 state-wise Professional Tax slabs. Hindi long-tail keywords (gratuity kaise calculate kare, marginal relief kya hai) baked into SEO.

  2. Details every other calculator misses.

Surcharge calculator with automatic marginal relief (most tools and even some return-prep software ignore it โ€” costs โ‚น2-15 lakh near band thresholds) Leave Encashment with the full Section 10(10AA) four-limit rule AND the lifetime โ‚น25L cap tracked across employers Gratuity with both formulas (15รท26 covered / 15รท30 not-covered) + 5-year-OR-4y240d eligibility (Madras HC Mettur Beardsell ruling) Salary Slip with the statutory โ‚น1,800 PF cap (12% ร— โ‚น15,000 ceiling) auto-applied 3. 100% browser-based โ€” files never leave your device. No server uploads. Your salary, PAN, GSTIN, bank account, PDFs โ€” all processed locally with pdf-lib, jsPDF, pdfjs-dist. Works offline after first load.

  1. Tool depth, not link-farm breadth. 80+ tools, but each ships with 4-6 features, 3-4 how-it-works steps, 4-8 FAQs (which generate Google FAQ rich snippets), and 30+ targeted keywords. Compare to most competitors where the "calculator" is a single input + result.

  2. Receipt/document generators that actually match Indian payroll/compliance formats.

Salary Slip with 3 templates (Classic Grid / Modern / Minimal), live PDF preview, full WD/WO/PH/PD/CL/PL/SL/LWP working-days breakdown, Actual + Payable columns with auto-prorate on LWP Rent Receipt with sequential numbering, payment-mode line, revenue-stamp prompt above โ‚น5,000, mandatory landlord-PAN warning above โ‚น1L/year GST Invoice with auto CGST+SGST vs IGST routing, 5 tax slabs, reverse charge, e-way bill, HSN autocomplete 6. No signup wall, no rate limits, no watermarks. Free tools that stay free โ€” even with file uploads.

  1. Modern stack & performance. Next.js 16 + Turbopack, Tailwind 4, strict TypeScript, full dark-mode parity, 156 prerendered pages, dynamic imports per tool so each route ships only what it needs.

  2. Honest math, transparent reasoning. Calculator outputs explain why โ€” which limit kicked in, which slab applies, why marginal relief was/wasn't triggered. Not a black box.

TrueJson's answer:

Every developer knows the painโ€”jumping between a dozen scattered JSON tools just to get one job done. One site to format, another to validate, a third to convert, each with clunky, outdated interfaces and inconsistent behavior. What should be a simple taskโ€”editing, validating, or comparing JSONโ€”turns into a frustrating scavenger hunt across the web. Add in the constant risk of syntax errors, broken structures, and lost time, and JSON becomes less of a universal data format and more of a daily obstacle.

Thatโ€™s where True JSON comes inโ€”the all-in-one studio built for clarity, speed, and collaboration. You can edit, validate, prettify, minify, sort, and filter your data with precision. Generate or validate schemas, convert between JSON, XML, CSV, and YAML, perform diff checks, save files securely, collaborate through comments and shared access, and automate everything via API integration. Every tool you need, unified in one sleek, intelligent workspace.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CleverTools.in's answer

Three reasons:

Accuracy on the details that cost real money. Marginal relief, the โ‚น1,800 statutory PF cap, the four-limit rule for leave encashment, the 4y-240d gratuity eligibility ruling โ€” most calculators miss these and quietly cost users โ‚น2โ€“15 lakh. CleverTools applies them automatically and explains which limit kicked in. Privacy by architecture. Your PAN, GSTIN, salary, bank account, PDFs โ€” they are processed in your browser using pdf-lib and jsPDF. Nothing is uploaded. Works offline after the first visit. Free, fast, no friction. 80+ tools, no login wall, no rate limits, no watermarks on PDFs. Each tool is a single static page โ€” no spinning loaders, no "buy premium" interstitials.

TrueJson's answer:

It treats JSON as a workflow, not a one-off task. It brings editing, validation, prettify/minify, sorting and filtering, schema generation and validation, format conversions (JSON โ†” XML/CSV/YAML), diffing, file saving, collaboration with comments, and API-based automation into a single, consistent workspace. The value isnโ€™t any single featureโ€”itโ€™s the fact that everything works together in one place, with a modern interface and predictable behavior.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

CleverTools.in's answer

  • Indian salaried professionals filing HRA / 80C declarations
  • Freelancers and gig-economy consultants planning quarterly advance tax
  • Chartered Accountants and tax preparers
  • HR and payroll teams at small and mid-sized Indian companies
  • Small business owners issuing GST invoices

TrueJson's answer:

This phase is intentional. Weโ€™re focused on validating the core workflow, refining usability, and making sure the product genuinely solves the fragmentation problem before scaling into enterprise adoption. Several teams are actively using it in day-to-day development and review workflows, and those early users are shaping what TrueJson becomes next.

We expect larger customers to follow as the product matures, but for now, the priority is building something solid, useful, and trustedโ€”rather than chasing logos too early.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CleverTools.in's answer

Indian salaried employees, freelancers, gig-economy consultants, small-business owners, CAs,HR & payroll teams and tax-aware students.

Specifically: Salaried employees generating rent receipts for HRA, calculating in-hand salary across regimes, verifying salary-slip deductions Freelancers & consultants planning Section 211 quarterly advance tax and reconciling TDS CAs & finance professionals validating client computations during return-filing season HR & payroll teams running state-wise Professional Tax, generating salary slips, computing leave-encashment exits Small businesses issuing GST-compliant tax invoices, proforma invoices, credit notes, and delivery challans

TrueJson's answer:

The primary audience of TrueJson is people who work with JSON frequently and operationally, not occasionally.

At the core, this includes software engineers, backend and frontend developers, and API-focused teams who deal with JSON as part of their daily workflowโ€”config files, API payloads, responses, schemas, and integrations. For them, JSON is not just a data format but a critical dependency, and small inefficiencies or errors can quickly cascade into bugs, broken deployments, or wasted time.

Beyond individual developers, TrueJson also serves teams and technical leadsโ€”such as senior engineers, tech leads, and CTOsโ€”who care about consistency, reliability, and collaboration. Features like schema validation, diffing, saved files, comments, and API integration make it relevant for code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and shared standards across teams.

Finally, TrueJson is accessible to learners and non-specialist technical roles (QA engineers, product engineers, data analysts) who work with JSON but may not want to assemble and maintain a fragmented toolchain. Its value lies in reducing friction for anyone who needs JSON to be correct, readable, and trustworthyโ€”regardless of whether theyโ€™re writing code all day or supporting systems around it.

What's the story behind your product?

CleverTools.in's answer

CleverTools was started by Milan Bagiya out of frustration with the state of online Indian tax calculators โ€” most were either ad-laden link farms with wrong formulas, or behind โ‚น999/month paywalls. The premise was simple: build a focused, free, India-first tool suite where the math actually reflects current law (post-Budget 2024 reforms, latest CBDT notifications), where files never leave the user's browser, and where every calculator explains why its answer is what it is. It started with PDF and image utilities; the financial calculator suite (Income Tax, HRA, Gratuity, Capital Gains, Advance Tax, Surcharge, Professional Tax, Leave Encashment) is the current focus โ€” each one researched against actual sections of the Income-tax Act and Indian state-level rules.

TrueJson's answer:

The story behind TrueJson began with a simple but persistent frustration: JSON is everywhere, yet working with it has always been fragmented. Formatting in one tool, validation in another, conversions and diffing somewhere elseโ€”each task breaking flow and adding invisible overhead that developers quietly accept as โ€œnormal.โ€

TrueJson was created to challenge that assumption. Instead of another single-purpose utility, it set out to give JSON a proper homeโ€”a unified, modern workspace where all common JSON tasks live together. The idea was straightforward: reduce friction, remove context-switching, and make working with JSON feel clear, reliable, and complete again.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

CleverTools.in's answer

Next.js 16 (App Router, Turbopack) โ€” framework & SSG TypeScript (strict mode) โ€” type safety across 80+ tool components Tailwind CSS 4 โ€” design system with full dark-mode parity pdf-lib, pdfjs-dist, jsPDF โ€” all PDF parsing, generation, and manipulation in-browser html2canvas, JSZip, file-saver, mammoth, PapaParse โ€” document/data conversions Supabase โ€” auth and contact form storage Vercel โ€” hosting & edge delivery

TrueJson's answer:

React & PostgreSQL, using cloudfront to host frontend app and backend being served on nextjs.
