  1. Fable is great

Expensive, and the pricing model changed, but it just works. I hope more competitors release equally good quality to have a more fair pricing model in the longrun.

More like cloud AI - Its good

So Iโ€™ve been playing around with Claude for a bit, and hereโ€™s the vibe:

Honestly, it feels way more chill than a lot of other AI tools. Itโ€™s super polite, doesnโ€™t jump into assumptions too fast, and gives responses that are easy to read like talking to a thoughtful friend rather than someone in a hurry. Itโ€™s surprisingly good at breaking down complex stuff into simple terms without sounding condescending, which I really appreciate.

In terms of creativity, Claude does pretty well โ€” whether I ask for a poem, a short story, or help brainstorming ideas, it doesnโ€™t just give cookie-cutter replies. Thereโ€™s a bit of personality there, like it tries to make things interesting rather than just factual.

On the downside? Sometimes it plays it a bit too safe. If you push for a bold opinion or a more adventurous answer, itโ€™ll often stay in the middle-of-the-road lane. And for niche topics, itโ€™s not always as sharp as some other models unless you give super clear instructions.

Also, itโ€™s fast no long pauses or overcomplicated explanations which makes it nice for quick back-and-forth.

    ๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Cheap
    ๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Reports

Claude Sonnet 3.5 is amazing for coding! I used to use the chat interface and copy-paste, but now I use aider.chat. Aider works in a git repo and forces Claude to only make the changes you requested. Changes are easy to revert.

A downside: Code is not always what I want. I try to make it do work in small chunks and this helps. Excels at writing boilerplate-y code that tends to be a little different on different websites.

    Two helpful styles of prompts:

    1. "Make this better", "Make it look better", etc. - Will optimize code, make it DRY, improve HTML/CSS styling in templates, and more.
    2. "What are my options?" - Helpful if you're not an expert in something or need to brainstorm.

Using it for Python/Django/HTMX/AlpineJS. Django templates mixed with JS are no problem.

    ๐Ÿ Competitors: ChatGPT
๐Ÿ‘ Pros:    Optimizes and improves code, layouts, and more|Reduces boilerplate
๐Ÿ‘Ž Cons:    Code is not always great|Can be hard to keep track of things when you're moving so fast

What Is the Best AI for Resume Review? The Best Alternatives to ChatGPT in 2024

  • Ask HN: How close are we to local LLM models being useful? What's the impact?
A good place to browse is the LocalLLaMa subreddit. [0] A good software to start is LM Studio [1]. Another popular alternative is Ollama [2]. A better software when you're used to it all is llama.cpp as it's usually a bit faster and more frequently updated [3]. A good place to get models is HuggingFace, particularly the Unsloth models [4] Most popular models lately to run on "regular" gaming PC's, workstations,... - Source: Hacker News / 27 days ago
  • llama-bench skipped FA on capable GPUs โ€” b9437 corrects it
Yes, for a local source build: pull the latest commit from ggml-org/llama.cpp and recompile. Tagged binary releases lag the continuous builds. Check the GitHub releases page for a pre-built artifact if you want to skip compilation, but verify the build number includes the b9437 changes before treating it as current. - Source: dev.to / about 1 month ago
  • Introducing LlamaStash: a zero-overhead, terminal-native llama.cpp launcher
That script grew up. Today I'm releasing LlamaStash, the first public release of a fast, cross-platform, terminal-native launcher for llama.cpp with zero overhead. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
  • How fast is LlamaStash? Overhead, throughput, and a fair comparison with Ollama and LM Studio
LlamaStash spawns the unmodified upstream llama-server. So three different questions follow from that, and there is a benchmark suite for each. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
  • Why MTP doesn't speed up your llama.cpp inference (and how to actually fix it)
Last week, I spent two days banging my head against a wall. I had just spun up a fresh llama.cpp build with multi-token prediction (MTP) support, loaded a quantized Qwen3 model, and ran my benchmark suite expecting that sweet 2-3x speedup everyone keeps talking about. - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago
