CertPing 5 features
CertShield.app 8 features
  • Automated SSL/TLS Monitoring
CertPing provides automated monitoring of SSL/TLS certificates, alerting users before certificates expire so they can renew them in time and avoid website downtime or security warnings.
  • Simple Setup
The service is designed to be easy to set up, requiring users to simply add their domains and configure alert preferences without complex configuration or technical expertise.
  • Expiration Alerts
CertPing sends timely notifications about upcoming certificate expirations via multiple channels, helping teams stay on top of renewals and avoid lapses in security coverage.

  • Peace of Mind for Security
By continuously monitoring certificates, CertPing helps ensure that websites maintain valid SSL/TLS certificates, which is critical for user trust, SEO rankings, and data security.

Possible disadvantages

  • Limited Brand Recognition
CertPing is a relatively niche and lesser-known tool compared to larger monitoring platforms, which may make some organizations hesitant to rely on it for critical certificate monitoring.
  • Potential Feature Limitations
As a focused certificate monitoring tool, CertPing may lack the broader monitoring capabilities (uptime, performance, etc.) offered by more comprehensive monitoring platforms, potentially requiring users to use additional tools.
  • Pricing Uncertainty
For users with a large number of domains or advanced needs, the pricing tiers may not be as competitive or transparent compared to alternatives that bundle certificate monitoring with other services.
  • Dependency on Third-Party Service
Relying on an external service for certificate monitoring introduces a dependency — if CertPing itself experiences downtime or issues, users could miss critical expiration alerts.
  • Limited Integrations
CertPing may have fewer integrations with third-party tools, incident management platforms, or communication channels compared to more established monitoring solutions, potentially limiting workflow automation.
  • AI COI Reading
Extracts limits, dates, carriers, and endorsements from any ACORD 25 certificate PDF in seconds
  • Endorsement Verification
Checks CG 20 10 / CG 20 37 additional-insured forms and waiver of subrogation, not just the cert's front page
  • Requirements Engine
Pass/fail checks against your own rules, by vendor trade and by property
  • Human Review
Every uncertain result is verified by a person before publishing; customer gives final sign-off
  • Automatic Renewal Chasing
Email reminders to vendors and their insurance agents in English and Spanish before coverage expires
  • Compliance Dashboard
Traffic-light view of every vendor: compliant, expiring, or non-compliant
  • Audit Trail & Reports
Append-only document history and one-click compliance reports, audit-ready
  • Free COI Audit
Send 3 vendor certificates, get a full compliance report within 24 hours, no cost

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CertPing and CertShield.app.

What makes your product unique?

CertShield.app's answer:

Most COI tools only read the front page of a certificate. CertShield verifies the parts that actually protect you — additional-insured endorsement forms (CG 20 10 / CG 20 37) and waiver of subrogation wording — and pairs AI speed with human review: every uncertain result is verified by a person before it's published, and the customer always gives the final sign-off. We're also honest about limits: no tool can auto-detect a silent mid-term cancellation, so we mitigate it with agent confirmations instead of overclaiming.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CertShield.app's answer:

Enterprise COI platforms like myCOI and TrustLayer cost $8,000–25,000 per year with annual contracts and sales-team onboarding — built for companies with thousands of vendors. CertShield delivers the same category of protection from $99/month, is live in a day, and has no lock-in. If you manage 20–200 vendors and currently track certificates in a spreadsheet, CertShield is built exactly for you. Every plan starts with a free 3-certificate audit so you can see results on your own vendors before paying.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CertShield.app's answer:

US property management companies (20–2,000 units) and small-to-mid general contractors who work with rosters of vendors and subcontractors — plumbers, roofers, HVAC, landscapers — and are responsible for verifying each vendor's insurance. Typically the owner, operations director, or office manager who currently tracks COIs manually.

What's the story behind your product?

CertShield.app's answer:

CertShield started with a simple observation: a single uninsured vendor can turn into a six-figure lawsuit for a property manager, yet most small firms track insurance certificates in spreadsheets where expirations slip through and endorsements get missed. Enterprise tools existed but priced out everyone below the mid-market. As a solo technical founder, I built CertShield to give smaller firms the same protection — AI does the reading, a human verifies the results, and the price fits an SMB budget.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

CertShield.app's answer:

Next.js and TypeScript on the frontend, Postgres for data, and Anthropic's Claude for AI document extraction — with per-field confidence scoring and a human review queue on top. US-hosted, encrypted in transit and at rest.
