Casti.fyi's answer
YouTube has the largest content library on the planet โ lectures, interviews, documentaries, deep dives on every topic imaginable โ but it's stuck on a screen. You save videos, add them to Watch Later, and never get to them. Web converters are unreliable, browser extensions break, and nobody has time to manually download and transfer audio files. Castify lets you add a YouTube channel or playlist once and turns it into a podcast feed. New videos automatically show up as episodes in your podcast app. Listen on your commute, at the gym, wherever โ the same way you already listen to podcasts. No extra steps, nothing to maintain. It just runs in the background.

Other tools are either web services that hit rate limits and break when YouTube updates, browser extensions that stop working every few months, or command-line scripts that require technical know-how. Castify is a native desktop app that handles everything โ detection, extraction, hosting, syncing โ automatically in the background. You set it up once and your podcast app stays updated forever. No babysitting, no re-downloading, no "service unavailable." It just keeps working.

People who consume a lot of YouTube content but don't always have time to sit and watch. Commuters, runners, gym-goers, busy professionals โ anyone who already listens to podcasts and wishes their favorite YouTube channels were part of that same experience.
Casti.fyi's answer
I kept finding amazing YouTube content โ full university courses, three-hour interviews, deep technical talks โ and saving them to Watch Later. That list just kept growing. I never watched them. But I listened to podcasts every single day. So I thought, why can't these just be podcasts? I tried every tool out there. Web converters broke. Extensions stopped working. Running scripts manually got old fast. So I built the thing I wanted โ paste a link, forget about it, and it shows up in my podcast app like everything else. That's Castify.

The desktop app is built with Tauri and React, the server runs on Go, and audio extraction is powered by yt-dlp and ffmpeg โ the same open-source tools trusted by millions. Everything else is standard cloud hosting and RSS, so it works with any podcast app out of the box.
