Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CalcFi.app and Vim Python IDE.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

CalcFi.app's answer

Individual users planning for retirement, calculating taxes, or comparing mortgage options FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) community members tracking their savings goals Personal finance bloggers embedding CalcFi widgets in their articles Financial advisors using calculators as client-facing planning tools College students and educators in financial literacy programs Small business owners estimating payroll taxes and salary benchmarks

What makes your product unique?

CalcFi.app's answer

CalcFi offers 300+ financial calculators completely free with no signup, no account, and no paywalls. Unlike NerdWallet or Bankrate that gate their tools behind email capture or push sponsored products, CalcFi is purely focused on giving users instant, accurate answers. Every calculator includes localized data for all 50 US states and 160+ cities, and any calculator can be embedded on external websites with a single line of code.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

CalcFi.app's answer

Three reasons: breadth, speed, and zero friction. CalcFi covers 300+ calculators across retirement, tax, mortgage, FIRE, salary, crypto, insurance, and more โ€” all in one place. Pages load instantly because everything is statically generated. And there's no signup wall, no email required, no sponsored results steering you toward a particular product. You get the answer and move on.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

CalcFi.app's answer

Anyone making a financial decision โ€” from a 22-year-old figuring out how much to put in their 401k, to a couple calculating how much house they can afford, to someone planning early retirement with FIRE math. Secondary audiences include financial bloggers and advisors who embed CalcFi widgets on their own sites, and educators teaching personal finance literacy.

What's the story behind your product?

CalcFi.app's answer

CalcFi started from a simple frustration: every time you Google a financial question, you land on a page that either wants your email, pushes a sponsored product, or buries the calculator behind walls of SEO text. We built CalcFi to be the opposite โ€” open the page, use the calculator, get your answer. It grew from a handful of retirement calculators to 300+ tools covering every major financial decision, all bootstrapped and built by a small team in Estonia.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

CalcFi.app's answer

Next.js 16, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, Vercel (hosting), and Supabase. The entire site is statically generated โ€” 22,000+ pages built at deploy time for instant load speeds and maximum SEO performance.
