I thought the name was inspired by a cheap, easily available lubricant that comes in handy for every home. I've tried many simple servers for experimenting with simple static websites (HTML, CSS, JS). I'm currently settled on LiveReload[1] and BrowserSync[2]. LiveReload attaches to other tooling and is more straightforward, while Brower-Sync when looking across a few multiple browsers (out of habit). I'm not... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
Eleventy offers a great developer experience. For example, it includes an inbuilt --serve flag that uses Browsersync to enable serving the site locally and with hot reload upon file changes. This is a huge convenience. Another distinctive feature is its capability to choose from and combine up to ten different templating languages, such as JavaScript, Haml, Pug, Liquid, and more. - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago
I was looking for something like HMR for client side reloading a little while ago (HTML, CSS, etc), and ended up with just using the CLI of Browsersync[1] with a barebones config. It works, but feels shoehorned and wonky. It would be nice to do this with something native to Deno, which this HMR implementation seems to enable! 1. https://browsersync.io/. - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
4.Now, that you are ready to run npm tasks, the below command will start the server and watch the code using browsersync. Open http://localhost:3000/ to check your development ๐. - Source: dev.to / almost 3 years ago
I use browsersync to do this with an actual device. It's worth trying out if you haven't already. Source: over 3 years ago
Urlbox maintains an official MCP server (@urlbox/screenshot-mcp, a render Tool that returns PNG/PDF/MP4 plus HTML/metadata, env SECRET_KEY). Its differentiator is Forensic-grade output: cryptographic timestamps and hashes, change detection, and many formats. There's No free tier โ a 7-day trial and a $100/10K refund guarantee instead โ and entry pricing is $9.50/1,000 ($19/mo for 2,000). Best for: agents in... - Source: dev.to / 6 days ago
Picking a screenshot API feels binary until you start integrating, then the edges show: one service has a Python SDK but no async queue, another has webhooks but charges extra for authenticated pages, a third makes you wire up an S3 bucket yourself. This post walks through how Rendershot and Urlbox compare across the dimensions that actually hurt to change later. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
If youโre worried about the security risks, edge cases, maintenance pain and scaling challenges of self hosting there are various solid hosted alternatives: - https://browserless.io - low level browser control - https://scrapingbee.com - scraping specialists - https://urlbox.com - screenshot specialists* Theyโre all profitable and have been around for years so you can depend on the businesses and the tech. *... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
This is how I do it. I send the URLs I want scraped to Urlbox[0] it renders the pages saves HTML (and screenshot and metadata) to my S3 bucket[1]. I get a webhook[2] when it's ready for me to process. I prefer to use Ruby so Nokogiri[3] is the tool I use for scraping step. This has been particularly useful when I've want to scrape some pages live from a web app and don't want to manage running Puppeteer or... - Source: Hacker News / over 2 years ago
