BrickThink.io 0 features
Opalstack 5 features

No features have been listed yet.

  • Developer-Friendly Hosting
Opalstack is designed with developers in mind, offering SSH access, Git integration, and support for multiple programming languages and frameworks including Python, Node.js, Ruby, and PHP, giving developers granular control over their hosting environment.
  • Affordable Pricing
Opalstack offers competitive pricing for shared and managed hosting plans, making it an accessible option for small businesses, freelancers, and individual developers who need robust features without enterprise-level costs.
  • Modern Control Panel
Opalstack provides a clean, modern, and intuitive web-based dashboard for managing sites, applications, databases, and email accounts, which is a significant improvement over older-style hosting control panels like cPanel.
  • Strong Support for Multiple Applications
The platform supports a wide variety of application types including WordPress, Django, Flask, Express, static sites, and more, allowing users to host diverse projects on a single account with easy deployment.
  • Reliable Infrastructure and Support
Opalstack is built by former WebFaction team members, bringing experienced hosting expertise. They offer responsive customer support and a reputation for stable, well-managed server infrastructure with good uptime.

Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing BrickThink.io and Opalstack.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

BrickThink.io's answer

Generic whiteboards like Miro and Mural give you an open canvas; they don't carry the methodology. LSP isn't freeform drawing — it's a structured sequence where the rails are what make it work. BrickThink reproduces those rails honestly online, built by someone who ran these workshops for years rather than someone who read about them. It's free and open source, so there's nothing to extract from an audience that guards this method, and if the hosted instance ever disappeared, anyone could run their own copy from source.

What makes your product unique?

BrickThink.io's answer

It's a faithful digital reconstruction of LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY®, not a whiteboard with bricks on it. The method's fixed five-stage sequence is encoded as first-class product structure — a facilitator-driven stage state machine, breakout rooms that auto-compose each participant's individual model into one shared view, and scenario templates tuned per stage. The constraint is the point, and that's what generic tools can't reproduce. It's also Apache 2.0, free forever, with no paid tier and no waiting list.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

BrickThink.io's answer

Certified LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitators running paid client workshops remotely, agile coaches running retrospectives and working agreements across distributed teams, and leadership, People, and L&D roles running strategy alignment and team-formation sessions. All of them already know the method and want a remote-native equivalent that doesn't feel like a compromise.

What's the story behind your product?

BrickThink.io's answer

The founder, Naresh Shan, ran LSP workshops for years for design teams he managed, after first encountering the method at a bank — where one workshop got a room of people who didn't like each other to agree on what they were building and what they'd sacrifice to ship it. As his teams grew and went remote after COVID, flying people in to build with physical bricks stopped being practical and stopped being funded. Since the LSP method is openly published under Creative Commons, there was no good reason it should stay locked to people who could share a physical room. He built the tool he wanted and couldn't buy.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

BrickThink.io's answer

Next.js 15 and React 19 on the frontend, a Konva-powered 2D canvas, Yjs CRDT for real-time collaboration, and Supabase for Postgres, auth, storage, and row-level security. AI session reports run through the Anthropic API. It's deployed on Railway with separate web and worker services.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

BrickThink.io's answer

No named customers to report. BrickThink is in its public feedback phase and does not publish a customer list.
