Questions and Answers

As answered by people managing Boring Database and UseGravity.App.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Boring Database's answer

Boring database is brand new repository so we are still waiting for our list of users to grow and post results.

What makes your product unique?

Boring Database's answer

Boring database is more than just a code boilerplate. Its a data business in a box. Ready made for you to launch a premium data as a service type business in less than 1 day.

All you need to bring is your dataset and Boring Database handles the rest. No fuss authentication, Stripe for payments and Resend for emails.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Boring Database's answer

There are plenty of saas boilerplates out there, but none designed to make it easy to launch a Data-as-a-service business.

You don't have to worry about setting up data-tables, filtering, sorting, csv export or uploading your dataset. That is all handled for you!

How would you describe your primary audience?

Boring Database's answer

If you are looking for any easy way to launch a new project and have access to a valuable dataset, boring database is the easiest way to monetise that premium asset.

What's the story behind your product?

Boring Database's answer

I started Boring Database because I needed an easy way to launch these data-as-a-service business ideas quickly without repeating myself everytime! I'm sitting on a list of over 20 ideas that I would love to build and boring database is going to make that super easy!

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Boring Database's answer

I chose Remix as the application framework. For newcomers I believe Remix has the simplest mental model for understanding complex server logic. Boring database is setup so you only have to make small code changes for content and copywriting. However if you decide to make bigger changes, the way Remix lays out server and client logic will make it simple for you understand.

Stripe is used for payments. Resend and React Email for transactional emails (although react-email make this very easy to swap with another provider, mailgun, postmark etc...)

Is this a monorepo setup? It looks like one from the graphics. I also think when it comes to these SaaS starter kits its helpful to have visuals of the out of the box look and feel. I would also recommend creating a docs page. For example I've used this a few times https://usegravity.app/ and the thing that sold me on it is the Docs, it gives the feeling that its very robust. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
