BlurSnap.app features and specs

  • Paint to reveal
The capture opens fully blurred and a brush uncovers only the regions you choose. Anything you don't reveal stays hidden.
  • Hold to peek
Hold a key (Space by default) to see the original underneath, then it blurs back. View-only while peeking, so nothing gets saved by accident.
  • Frosted glass mode
Optional. Hidden regions are replaced with a plain sheet instead of a blur, for screenshots headed to a wider or less familiar audience.
  • Baked into the file
Hiding is applied to the pixels of the exported image, not drawn as a separate layer, so there is no overlay to remove.
  • Works entirely offline
No network calls at all: no cloud processing, no uploads, no accounts, no telemetry.
  • Configurable
Hotkey, blur strength, brush size, peek key and save folder.

Possible disadvantages of api-usage

  • Limited API Coverage
The platform might not include all available APIs, potentially missing niche or newly released services that could be relevant to some users.
  • Outdated Information
Information on the platform may not be updated in real-time, leading to discrepancies between the listed data and the actual current state of an API.
  • Lack of Personalization
The platform may not offer personalized recommendations based on specific user needs or previous usage patterns, limiting its utility for tailored searches.
  • Dependency on User Input
If the platform relies on user-generated content for reviews or ratings, the quality and reliability of this information can vary significantly.
  • Potential Overwhelm
With numerous APIs and data points available, new users might find it challenging to navigate and extract the most relevant information for their specific use case.

Analysis of api-usage

Overall verdict

  • Without independent verification, api-usage (apiusage.info) cannot be confidently confirmed as a good or reliable service since there is insufficient public information, reviews, or track record available to assess its quality, security, and support.

Why this product is good

  • Limited publicly available information makes it difficult to verify claims about the service
  • No substantial user reviews or third-party assessments found to confirm reliability or performance
  • Unclear track record regarding uptime, customer support quality, or data security practices
  • Potential newer or niche player in the API monitoring/usage tracking space with limited market validation

Recommended for

  • Users willing to conduct their own due diligence and testing before committing
  • Those seeking a possibly low-cost or niche alternative to established API usage tracking tools
  • Developers comfortable trying newer services and providing feedback
  • Not recommended for enterprises requiring proven, well-documented vendor reliability without further research

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing BlurSnap.app and api-usage.

What makes your product unique?

BlurSnap.app's answer

The workflow is inverted. Most tools hand you a sharp screenshot and expect you to find and cover every sensitive detail before sharing. BlurSnap does the opposite: the capture opens fully blurred and you paint over only what you want visible. The default state is hidden, so a detail you never noticed โ€” a customer name in a background tab, a notification that slid in while you were framing the shot โ€” stays hidden instead of being shared by accident.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

BlurSnap.app's answer

Because the safe outcome is the default rather than a reward for being careful. Most screenshot tools treat redaction as an optional step you have to remember at the right moment; here it is the starting state. BlurSnap is also fully local โ€” no network calls, no accounts, no cloud โ€” and the hiding is applied to the pixels of the exported file rather than drawn as a removable layer. One-time $9.99, no subscription.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

BlurSnap.app's answer

People who send screenshots every day as part of their job and cannot afford to leak what sits around the edges: IT and support staff sharing customer-facing systems, consultants and agencies sending work to clients, and developers posting logs, dashboards and configs that live next to tokens and keys.

It fits one situation especially well: when a single screen holds several things worth showing, scattered across different corners. Cropping turns that into five disconnected images that lose the context of where each piece came from. With BlurSnap it stays one screenshot โ€” you reveal the few spots that matter and everything between them stays hidden.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

BlurSnap.app's answer

C# on .NET Framework 4.8 with WinForms, packaged as MSIX for the Microsoft Store. Blurring and compositing are custom code working directly on bitmap data โ€” no third-party imaging libraries and no AI processing involved.

What's the story behind your product?

BlurSnap.app's answer

It started from a habit I could not make safe. Sending a screenshot of a busy screen meant either cropping it into several disconnected pieces, or spending a minute covering every detail I did not want to send โ€” and still catching a customer name in a background tab afterwards. What I actually wanted was to send one screenshot and show the three or four specific things on it that mattered. So I built the opposite of the usual workflow: the capture opens fully blurred and a brush reveals only those spots, which turns "show these, hide the rest" into a single motion instead of a checklist. Everything since has gone into that motion โ€” a peek key for finding things without guessing, and an optional frosted glass mode for screenshots headed to a wider audience.
