  • Improved Code Organization

  • Code Reusability
Modules encourage reusability by allowing the same piece of code to be used across different projects or multiple areas of the same application, reducing redundancy.
  • Scalability
As the application grows, managing code becomes easier with modular JavaScript. Each module can be developed, tested, and maintained independently, making the codebase more scalable.
  • Encapsulation
Modules provide encapsulation, preventing variables and functions from polluting the global namespace. This reduces the risk of naming conflicts and bugs.
  • Improved Testing
With code organized into discrete modules, writing unit tests becomes more straightforward. Each module can be tested individually, leading to more reliable and maintainable tests.

Possible disadvantages

  • Increased Complexity
Introducing modularity can add complexity to the build process, as it often requires module loaders or bundlers (like Webpack or Browserify) to manage dependencies.
  • Overhead
For smaller projects, using a modular approach might be overkill, introducing unnecessary overhead in terms of setup, configuration, and code management.
  • Learning Curve
Developers unfamiliar with modular JavaScript may face a learning curve, especially when dealing with module patterns, loaders, and bundlers.
  • Dependency Management
Relying on multiple modules can lead to complex dependency chains, making it challenging to track and resolve dependencies across different modules.
  • Performance Overhead
Modular JavaScript can introduce performance overhead if not managed properly, such as loading many small modules individually, leading to increased HTTP requests.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Bitreport and Modular JavaScript.

What makes your product unique?

Bitreport's answer

Bitreport keeps the audit and the follow-up in one place. A store visit or checklist does not end with a report: items that fail can create corrective tasks with an owner and a deadline, photo evidence is attached to checks and tasks, and area managers and head office can see which locations still need attention without asking each store for an update. It is built for multi-location retail and hospitality chains.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Bitreport's answer

Bitreport fits chains that want audit findings to become assigned work and want to see that issues get resolved. Mobile checklists and audits, corrective tasks with deadlines, recurring routines per location, photo evidence, and incident and repair tracking are in one product for store teams, area managers and head office. It runs on web, iOS and Android and is available in English and 17+ local languages within EMEA. A free trial is available; it includes optional onsite training, an HQ/corporate visit and store walks, offered in the US and Europe. Bitreport is not a POS, ERP, inventory or payroll system; it covers the operational work around them.

What's the story behind your product?

Bitreport's answer

Bitreport was founded in 2023 in Zagreb, Croatia, by Domagoj Rade and Marko Čačić. The company focuses on a practical challenge for retail and hospitality chains: turning standards and audit findings into consistent daily action across locations. Its platform connects store visits, checklists, assigned tasks and issue follow-up, helping frontline teams and headquarters work from the same information.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Bitreport's answer

  • Levi's
  • Under Armour
  • Scotch & Soda
  • Mustang
  • Tommy
  • Galileo

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Bitreport's answer

Bitreport is built in TypeScript end to end: React for the web app, React Native for the iOS and Android apps, and NestJS on the backend.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Bitreport's answer

Bitreport is built for multi-location retail, such as grocery, fashion and beauty, home and garden and specialty retail, and for restaurant, cafe and hospitality groups. Frontline teams use it to complete daily checklists and tasks, area managers use it for store visits and follow-up, and headquarters uses it to monitor execution and identify recurring operational gaps.
