I can highly recommend BeyondCompare from https://scootersoftware.com/. Source: over 3 years ago
Checksums are better long term. However a nice GUI program: Beyond Compare from Scooter Software is a native Windows app that will compare entire subdirectories or even entire disks and will show a GUI of changes / mods / missing / extra files. I've used Discord for Risus, with https://collabedit.com for a shared character sheet (that is, one sheet for everybodyโI find it more convenient as the GM, and it's not like a huge amount of space is required). Unfortunately, collabedit goes down now and then, so maybe I should've resorted to Google Docs. Source: over 4 years ago
