Upload a scan, a PDF or a CAD export, and our AI pipeline turns it into a first draft of an interactive map in minutes. It detects shapes, splits a directory sheet into floors, reads store names with OCR and matches the unit numbers on the plan to the names in the legend. You finish the map in a visual editor, and it runs on phones, your website and on-site kiosks from one dashboard. Building is free, and our pricing is published on the website, which is still rare in this category.

With BetterMap, a venue team uploads its existing floor plan, gets an AI-generated draft and publishes the same week. Pricing is public and scales with floor area, so you know the cost before you talk to anyone. After launch, your own team updates the map in real time without waiting on a vendor. Visitors don't need to install an app, because the map works in the browser, on your website and on kiosks.

Operations, marketing and facilities teams at large venues where people get lost: shopping centres, university campuses, hospitals, and exhibition and conference organisers. They want visitors to find things without asking staff, and they want a map they can keep up to date themselves. Resellers and agencies that serve these venues are a growing second audience, because they can build maps for their own clients.

I started BetterMap after watching people stand in front of a mall directory board, find nothing, and go ask a security guard. The maps already existed, but only on paper or in PDFs nobody could search. The hard part was never drawing the map. It was getting the data out of the drawing: scans, PDF exports with hundreds of thousands of vector paths, and photos of boards that had hung on a wall for decades. I have a background in computer science and machine learning, so most of the work went into a pipeline that reads those files automatically. BetterMap is built in Limassol, Cyprus, and our first maps went live in shopping malls there.

Vue.js on the front end with WebGL map rendering, Node.js on the back end, MongoDB, and AWS for hosting. The floor plan pipeline is written in Python and uses computer vision, machine learning models trained on annotated floor plans, and OCR for store names and legends.
