The founder, Sumit Sharma, reverted to Islam a few years ago. In his first month he kept downloading Muslim apps and uninstalling them. Every one either ran ads next to the Quran, asked for a subscription before he had learned wudu, or pushed one madhab's view as the only correct one. He is a software engineer based in Dubai, so he eventually stopped complaining and started building. Barakah is the app he wished he had found in that first month. Prayer time calculations use established astronomical algorithms with multiple supported methods (MWL, ISNA, Egypt, Karachi, Umm al-Qura, Tehran, others). On-device data (wealth, journal, muhasaba) is stored in iOS Keychain, never on the server.
