Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing AZIPCODE and UniWords.

What makes your product unique?

UniWords's answer:

UniWords is a Scrabble-style word game that is genuinely 100% free: no ads of any kind, no subscription, and no in-app purchases. Every play is validated against the Oxford Languages dictionary, so there are no word disputes. It runs as one game across iOS, Android, and the web, and it is fully bilingual, with separate dictionary-validated word lists for English and Danish.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

UniWords's answer:

Unlike Words With Friends, Scrabble GO, or Wordfeud, UniWords serves no ads, never asks for a subscription, and sells nothing in-app, so the board is never interrupted. Words are settled by the Oxford Languages dictionary instead of arguments. Competitive players get an ELO ranking ladder, 18 live tournaments at any time, and private tournaments for friends, on iOS, Android, and web.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

UniWords's answer:

For word-game and Scrabble lovers, and anyone wanting a free Words With Friends alternative with no ads, who just want a clean place to play. It suits competitive players chasing an ELO rank and tournament wins, as well as casual friends running turn-based matches at their own pace. Because it is bilingual with full dictionary validation, it serves both English- and Danish-speaking players across phones and the web.

What's the story behind your product?

UniWords's answer:

UniWords was built by Axel Software ApS, a studio based in Copenhagen, Denmark, and launched in 2021. The goal was a serious, fair Scrabble alternative that stays completely free: no ads, no subscriptions, no in-app purchases. Anchoring every word to the Oxford Languages dictionary removed disputes, and adding ELO rankings and tournaments gave word lovers a genuinely competitive home on iOS, Android, and the web.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

UniWords's answer:

UniWords is built with Flutter (Dart) as a single cross-platform codebase covering iOS, Android, and web. The backend runs on Google Firebase: Firestore stores game state, Firebase Authentication handles sign-in, Cloud Functions run the game logic, and Cloud Messaging delivers notifications. Word validation is performed against the Oxford Languages dictionary for both the English and Danish word lists we use the official danish dictionary

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

UniWords's answer:

UniWords is a free consumer (B2C) game, so it has individual players, not enterprise customers. The kinds of players it serves include: - Competitive players climbing the ELO ladder and entering tournaments - Casual players running turn-based matches against friends - Players looking for a free, ad-free Scrabble alternative to Words With Friends - English- and Danish-speaking word lovers across iOS, Android, and web
