Locksy is a native iOS, AI-powered teen social and messaging platform redefining how Gen Z connects, communicates, and creates. Built around a proprietary dual-sided countdown mechanic โ the only app in the market where the timer starts the moment content is sent, not when the recipient opens it โ Locksy turns every message into a live, shared event that vanishes forever if not unlocked in time. Content that is not unlocked before the timer expires is permanently deleted, with no replays or recovery.
The platform's core features include Secret Drops (time-locked multimedia messages), Backroom (private ephemeral group rooms with configurable vanish timers), and Locksy's Smart Camera โ a single-tap multimedia switching mechanism that converts between photo, video, voice, and text without leaving the camera view. Locksy AI Remix, a native prompt-based photo and clip transformation layer built directly into the Drop flow, is currently in restricted beta.
Locksy operates on a freemium business model. The application is free to download. Premium features are available through the Golden Lock subscription tier at $3.99 per month, which includes unlimited drops, verification, and screenshot protection.
Headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley, Locksy is currently available exclusively in the United States.

LocksyLocksy's answer:
Locksy is the only app where the countdown starts the moment content is sent โ not when the recipient opens it. This dual-sided, send-triggered countdown mechanic runs simultaneously for both sender and recipient, creating a live shared event that vanishes forever if not unlocked in time. No other social or messaging app has shipped this mechanic. Combined with a single-tap multimedia switching Smart Camera, private ephemeral Backroom rooms, a dynamic school discovery system, and Locksy AI Remix โ a native prompt-based photo and video transformation layer built directly into the Drop flow โ Locksy represents a fundamentally different architecture for teen social communication.
Locksy's answer:
Most social apps are built for permanence โ feeds, archives, and content that lives forever. Locksy is built for moments. Unlike Snapchat, Instagram, or BeReal, Locksy's timer starts the second content is sent rather than when it is opened, making every message a live, urgent, shared experience rather than a passive notification. Friends don't need the app to receive a Secret Drop. Backroom spaces are themselves ephemeral โ the room vanishes, not just the content. And Locksy AI Remix transforms any photo or video clip with a free-text prompt natively inside the Drop flow, with no preset filters or templates. Locksy is free always, available exclusively in the United States, and built natively on iOS.
Locksy's answer:
Locksy's primary audience is Gen Z teens aged 13 to 18 in the United States. The platform is specifically designed for the generation that has grown up on social media and is actively moving away from public feeds, permanent content, and performative posting toward private, intimate, real-time communication with close friends. Locksy's school discovery system allows users to find and connect with their real-world circle by school, grade, and class, reinforcing its focus on genuine peer connection rather than follower counts or public audiences.
Locksy's answer:
Locksy was built on a single observation: the foundational mechanic of every major social app โ the timer starting when someone opens a message โ creates the illusion of urgency without the reality of it. Locksy's founders set out to fix the actual mechanic. By starting the countdown the moment content is sent, running simultaneously for both sides regardless of when the recipient opens the app, Locksy turns every message into a genuinely live, shared event. Built natively in Swift by a powerhouse team headquartered in the heart of Silicon Valley, Locksy launched exclusively in the United States and has since shipped Secret Drops, Backroom ephemeral rooms, the Locksy Smart Camera, and Locksy AI Remix โ the first native AI creative layer built directly into a social app's core Drop flow.
Locksy's answer:
Locksy is built natively in Swift using Xcode, running exclusively on iOS and leveraging Apple's native frameworks throughout. The platform is engineered for speed โ every component of the experience, including Locksy AI Remix, is designed to operate fast enough to keep pace with a live countdown mechanic. Locksy AI Remix supports both photo and video clip transformation through a free-text prompt interface, with no preset filters or templates required. Voice prompt input is also supported, allowing users to describe their transformation by speaking rather than typing.
Locksy's answer:
Locksy's primary users are teenagers aged 13 to 18 across the United States, with particular traction among high school students who use the platform to communicate within their existing real-world social circles. The school discovery system allows students to connect by school, grade, and class, meaning Locksy's user base is naturally organized around real institutions rather than algorithmic networks. As a consumer social platform, Locksy does not publish individual user or institutional data.
Locksy solves a problem every teen feels but nobody had fixed โ the moment you send something, the clock should already be ticking for both of you, not just when they decide to open it. That single mechanic changes everything about how a message feels. Every Secret Drop becomes a live event. Backroom gives your real circle a private, ephemeral space that vanishes when the moment is over. And Locksy AI Remix lets you transform any photo or video with a free-text prompt before sending โ no filters, no presets, just type what you want and watch it happen. Built natively on iOS, free always, available exclusively in the United States. This is what social media looks like when you rebuild it from first principles.

AWS has Cloud9[1] though it's worth pointing out that it's not an exact a 1:1 and may require some elbow grease to use in the same manner[2]. 1. https://aws.amazon.com/cloud9/ 2. https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/architecture/field-notes-use-aws-cloud9-to-power-your-visual-studio-code-ide/ (2021). - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago
If you just want to run an IDE for Python in the cloud, take a look at AWS Cloud9 (that would cost something however). You could get your code into AWS and sync your local changes using a source code repository, e.g. On GitHub or GitLab. Source: about 3 years ago
