ScriptTap is an Android automation app for creating and running user-controlled scripts directly on an Android device. Scripts can perform taps, swipes and gestures; react to UI elements, visible text, images or pixel colors; and use OCR, variables, conditions, loops, files, clipboard data, HTTP requests, overlays and text-to-speech.

Script creation and execution remain local by default. ScriptTap does not require root, a desktop companion or normal runtime ADB. Accessibility is used for user-authorized input automation and UI reads. Android screen capture is requested separately for screen-aware commands such as OCR, image matching, pixel checks and screenshots.

ScriptTap also supports routines, shortcuts, floating controls, assets, run logs, import and export, optional cloud features, and AI-assisted script packages that users can review and edit before running. ScriptTap is currently available as a public Android beta.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Automated Integration and ScriptTap.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

ScriptTap's answer:

  • None yet โ€” ScriptTap has just launched in open beta and is still building its early user community.

What makes your product unique?

ScriptTap's answer:

ScriptTap combines a visual, on-device script builder with several ways to understand what is happening on an Android screen: Accessibility UI elements, selected-area OCR, image matching and pixel detection. It can then apply variables, conditions, loops, routines, shortcuts and touch actions without root during normal use. Its optional ADB integration also lets trusted AI coding agents build scripts, inspect logs and analyze in-app screenshots.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

ScriptTap's answer:

ScriptTap is particularly useful when automation depends on visible screen state rather than only schedules, notifications or cloud integrations. It combines screen checks, touch actions, logic, assets, routines and overlays in readable workflows. It operates without root, can work alongside other Android automation tools through shortcuts and offers optional direct integration with AI coding agents.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

ScriptTap's answer:

ScriptTap is designed for Android users who want to automate repeated on-device workflows without root. Its primary audience includes power users, makers, technical users and early adopters who prefer a visual editor over developing a complete automation app. It is especially suited to cross-app and screen-aware workflows involving text, UI elements, images, pixels, routines or shortcuts.

What's the story behind your product?

ScriptTap's answer:

I started ScriptTap because I wanted an Android automation tool that could be both highly capable and genuinely approachable. Many existing tools force users into a tradeoff: simpler tools become limiting as workflows grow, while more powerful tools can quickly overwhelm beginners with complexity. ScriptTap is my attempt to bridge that gap.

The goal is for someone with no coding experience to create a useful automation quickly, then progressively add variables, conditions, screen reading, OCR, image and pixel checks, routines and other advanced capabilities as their needs grow. My long-term vision is a unified platform for Android automation where beginners and experts alike can build sophisticated workflows in an elegant, understandable and user-controlled environment.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

ScriptTap's answer:

ScriptTap is a native Android application built primarily with Java, the Android SDK and AndroidX. It uses Android Accessibility services for user-approved input automation and UI reading, MediaProjection for user-controlled screen capture and Google ML Kit for on-device OCR and translation. Firebase provides authentication, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Remote Config and Crashlytics. Its optional AI Bridge uses a token-protected local HTTP API exposed through ADB port forwarding.
