That's actually a great question. Our show is in the top 0.5% of podcasts, and we've been recently asking ourselves the same question. The site I have found with the earliest working cast is audioboom.com. Their earliest episode is #32 titled "Busy Week" from 4/15/2014. This gets you twelve more episodes in front of #44 "Stinging Genitals" from 7/8/2014. The clinker with audioboom is it doesn't have an app so the mobile experience isn't great. Yeah, but the freelanchers I got suggested by codeable.io had a fee of over 1000 dollar. I'm just a student and it's for a small recreative project I'm working on as an interest and a challenge. So I'm trying to do it with just the help of the internet. Source: over 4 years ago
That said, one resource I've found to be very helpful is codeable. They vet the developers for you. It's worked great for the type of business I run, where I need people for certain parts of projects, but I'm not a big enough company to actually hire full-time roles.
