  • Experimenting mcp-go, AnythingLLM and local LLM executions
I will not cover how to install every piece, it should be straightforward. What you need is to install AnythingLLM and load a model. I am using Llama 3.2 3B, but if you need more complex operations, AnythingLLM allows you to select different models to execute locally. - Source: dev.to / 28 days ago

  • Writing an AnythingLLM Custom Agent Skill to Trigger Make.com Webhooks
Recently I've been experimenting with running a local Llama.cpp Server and looking for 3rd party applications to connect to it. It seems like there are have been a lot of popular solutions to running models downloaded from Huggingface locally, but many of them seem to want to import the model themselves using the Llama.cpp or Ollama libraries instead of connecting to an external provider. • AI-assisted writing: LM Studio vs Microsoft Copilot in Word
In general, such RAG features can be achieved by combining LLM Server and Vector Database. I plan to demonstrate this further by using AnythingLLM for vector database and LM Studio as its LLM provider in a future post. The main advantage in this local approach is that you can reference as many files as your hardware allows. - Source: dev.to / 6 months ago

  • Running Ollama on Docker: A Quick Guide
Hi it's me again! Over the past few days, I've been testing multiples ways to work with LLMs locally, and so far, Ollama was the best tool (ignoring UI and other QoL aspects) for setting up a fast environment to test code and features. I've tried GPT4ALL and other tools before, but they seem overly bloated when the goal is simply to set up a running model to connect with a LangChain API (on Windows with WSL). - Source: dev.to / 2 months ago

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I was thinking of something local, especially in light of: Google's Gemini AI caught scanning Google Drive PDF files without permission https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40965892 [2] https://github.com/Mintplex-Labs/anything-llm [4] https://recurse.chat/blog/posts/local-docs [5] - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Ask HN: Are you using a local LLM? If yes, what for?
I run one. I built an iMessage-like frontend to it using plain JS and a Python websocket backend. I mostly just use it for curiosity and playing with different prompts. I only have 16GB of RAM to dedicate to it, so I use an 8B parameter model which is enough for fun and chitchat, but I don't find it good enough to replace ChatGPT. https://github.com/nomic-ai/gpt4all. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
