Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Analyze My Income and DeveloperToolStack.

What makes your product unique?

Analyze My Income's answer

nalyze My Income focuses on one practical question: what compensation makes a 1099 contractor offer financially comparable to a W-2 job? Instead of relying on a generic “add 20–30%” rule, it models take-home pay using 2026 federal taxes, self-employment tax, business expenses, health insurance, billable hours and state taxes across all 50 states. It also provides break-even annual compensation, hourly rate targets and related tax-planning calculators.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

Analyze My Income's answer

Analyze My Income is built specifically for W-2 vs 1099 compensation decisions. Users can enter their own salary, contractor offer, expenses, health insurance, state and working hours and receive a clear, personalized comparison. The calculators are free, require no account, and use a documented methodology rather than a simple percentage-based estimate.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

Analyze My Income's answer

Analyze My Income is designed primarily for U.S. professionals deciding between W-2 employment and 1099 independent contractor work. What's the story behind your product?

Analyze My Income's answer

Taxes, benefits, business expenses, health insurance and unpaid time can significantly change the comparison. The project started as a dedicated W-2 vs 1099 break-even calculator and expanded into a collection of free tools for contractor compensation and tax planning.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

Analyze My Income's answer

avaScript, HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, Chart.js, Node.js, Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare Pages and Wrangler. The project uses GitHub for source control and automated validation of its tax calculation engine and production builds.

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

Analyze My Income's answer

Analyze My Income is currently a free public tool and does not yet have named enterprise customers.
