There is a learning curve, there is quite a lot of it, but it is still way easier than some other platforms. I've used and abused AWS and EC2 specifically and for me it is the best.

I recommend Wire. It's end-to-end encrypted, and it's so secure governments use it. It's free if you just download it. It does not ask for any personal information except an email account to sign up with, and you can quickly make a new email with protonmail.
