Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing AgentSearchEngine.app and Opalstack.

What's the story behind your product?

AgentSearchEngine.app's answer

The AI-agent ecosystem went from a handful of projects to hundreds almost overnight, with new agents, MCP servers, and frameworks launching every week. The directories that existed were either pay-to-play or quickly outdated — there was no neutral, current place to see what actually exists and how the options compare. Agent Search Engine was built to be that missing map: independent, verified, refreshed weekly, and never for sale.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

AgentSearchEngine.app's answer

Because you can trust the ordering. Nobody pays to rank higher, so it reflects real adoption and editorial judgment, not ad spend. The data is refreshed weekly instead of going stale, listings are honest about what's unknown, and the comparison and "best for / avoid if" guidance is designed to help you actually pick a tool quickly — rather than leaving you with a giant unfiltered list.

What makes your product unique?

AgentSearchEngine.app's answer

It's an independent index where rankings are never sold. Most AI directories are pay-to-play; here, every listing is editorially verified and refreshed weekly with live data, and where a fact isn't known it says so rather than guessing. It's also built to help you decide — with side-by-side comparisons, alternatives, and task-based shortlists — not just browse a long list.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

AgentSearchEngine.app's answer

Developers, engineering teams, and technical founders choosing tools in the fast-moving AI-agent space — people evaluating coding agents, MCP servers, agent frameworks, and voice, browser, and research agents, plus the infrastructure around them. Anyone who needs a neutral, current map of what exists and how the options compare.

Which are the primary technologies used for building your product?

AgentSearchEngine.app's answer

Next.js and React (TypeScript), styled with Tailwind CSS, deployed on Vercel, with a Supabase (PostgreSQL) backend. Listing data is enriched from public sources such as the GitHub API and refreshed on a weekly schedule.
