Possible disadvantages

  • Smaller Community and Ecosystem
Compared to major hosting providers like DigitalOcean, AWS, or even shared hosts like SiteGround, Opalstack has a smaller user base, which means fewer community tutorials, third-party guides, and forum discussions available for troubleshooting.
  • Limited Scalability Options
Opalstack is primarily a shared hosting provider, which means it may not be the best choice for high-traffic applications or projects that require rapid, on-demand scaling of resources like CPU, RAM, or storage.
  • Not Ideal for Beginners
While developer-friendly, Opalstack's approach can be intimidating for non-technical users. Setting up applications often requires familiarity with the command line and server configuration, which may not suit those looking for simple one-click solutions.
  • Limited Data Center Locations
Opalstack offers a relatively small number of data center locations compared to major cloud providers, which may result in higher latency for users targeting audiences in regions not well-served by the available server locations.
  • Fewer Managed Services and Add-ons
Unlike larger hosting platforms, Opalstack lacks a wide range of managed add-on services such as built-in CDN integration, managed backups with granular restore options, or one-click SSL management that more mainstream providers offer out of the box.

What makes your product unique?

2Flights.io's answer

2Flights.io combines real-time flight tracking with community-driven features like a global leaderboard and the world’s largest airline livery collection (250+ including special editions). It’s not just functional — it makes flight tracking personal, visual, and social.

Why should a person choose your product over its competitors?

2Flights.io's answer

Unlike many competitors, 2Flights.io is: - Cross-platform (iOS + Android), not limited to one ecosystem. - Offers a generous free tier (7 flights with real-time alerts). - Focused on community (leaderboards, friends, stats sharing). - Constantly updated with new liveries and features every week. - Backed by active development and user-driven feedback.

How would you describe the primary audience of your product?

2Flights.io's answer

Frequent flyers who want reliable, real-time flight updates. Casual travelers who want a simple way to keep track of flights. Aviation enthusiasts who love airline liveries, stats, and comparing with friends. Ex-App in the Air or Flighty users looking for a cross-platform alternative.

What's the story behind your product?

2Flights.io's answer

2Flights.io was born when App in the Air shut down, leaving travelers without a trusted companion app. As both a traveler and aviation fan, I set out to build a cross-platform, community-driven flight tracker that blends functionality (real-time alerts, itinerary imports) with passion (stats, visuals, liveries). What started as a side project has now grown into a constantly evolving platform shaped by user feedback.

Flutter (cross-platform mobile app for iOS & Android) Django (backend framework) PostgreSQL (database) Redis (caching, task management) AWS ECS Fargate, RDS, CloudFront (hosting & scaling) RevenueCat (subscriptions & trials) Firebase Cloud Messaging & APNs (push notifications) ChatGPT (4o) (parsing messy email itineraries into structured data)

Who are some of the biggest customers of your product?

2Flights.io's answer

Thousands of individual travelers across 50+ countries
