  • Hello UK TRAVEL! question:
It's a co-Living like coliving.com or the the collective or https://www.gravitycoliving.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Community based cultures?
Check: coliving.com and maybe focus on places that are more off the grid? I just recently came back from a coliving space in Peniche, Portugal - I totally loved it! Everyone can do their own thing but if you want community you get it. Highly recommend! Source: about 3 years ago
  • What's your unpopular opinion about digital nomad lifestyle?
There are some websites (e.g. https://coliving.com/) that list them, but can be a bit hit and miss. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Do you stay in shared places during your travels?
The first one that comes to my mind is to do the search at Coliving.com but the quality of colivings there varies a lot. You can also check MapMelon. Source: about 3 years ago

Coliving.com works for this. But in general I just search coliving on google maps. Source: about 3 years ago
  • 5 weeks in El Palmar de Vejer, coliving in the south of Spain

Not sure if this would fit what youโ€™re looking for, but check out โ€œco-livingโ€ https://coliving.com. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Solo travelers, how do you deal with lonliness
Staying in coliving spaces can help you. Itโ€™s housing with friends included. Youโ€™ll have your private room, but share amenities and communal areas where you can hang or work on your project. You can find a lot of these on https://coliving.com. Source: over 3 years ago
  • more expensive to use coliving.com or book direct?
As an example: what is the website to book this place directly? I input the city/address details and some specifics about the place and get nothing but coliving.com suggestions. can't find the page to book directly and corroborate that this info is true and the best price I can find. • I am 47 y.o. and have reached my limit in living my "straight life." Looking to quit my job and go south/to Mexico and want to find a community. Life is becoming unmanageable and feeling more disenchanted. Any places to recommend? Where can one go to start-over and end the rat race?
OP mentions searching for an "end (to) the rat race" - are there any communities listed on coliving.com that wouldn't require a significant job commitment to keep up with a $1000+ rent? Source: over 3 years ago
  • more expensive to use coliving.com or book direct?
I'm having a hard time finding the names of the coliving rentals to book direct and vet the costs though from the coliving.com listing. Not sure if my sleuthing skills just aren't good or what. Does anyone have any experience doing this and can comment if there is a price difference? Source: over 3 years ago

Could use this website and add to the list. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Coliving Options in Brazil
Coliving.com is the closest to that that I've found. They have quite a few options listed on their site. Not every coliving option lists their space on their site though, plus they want you to book through their site. I prefer to book directly with the coliving rather than a third party, though it's pretty easy to use the info on coliving.com to find the actual website. Source: over 3 years ago
  • What are some places/countries where you were tempted to stay in the long run/buy a property/live your life and abandon the nomad lifestyle?
Outsite is not the only coliving. Check on Airbnb or coliving.com and you will see both locations have prices of about $2k per month for a flat or $1k for shared bedrooms. Also, remember that people in Lisbon make $900 per month on average. What you wrote there as the average cost is 2x the average monthly salary. Source: almost 4 years ago

  • Co-living Websites
I've been looking at coliving.com as well. It seems to be more of an aggregator, like a booking or hostelworld, but for coliving spaces. Useful for searching places in a given area, though it doesn't always have everything. But the quality of a given stay would be largely dependent on the individual listing. I use it for the reviews in addition to search, but I assume booking direct is likely to be, if not... Source: about 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Coliving

Coliving.com has positioned itself as a notable player in the burgeoning sector of shared living accommodations, which seeks to blend the desire for community and affordable housing solutions with the needs of modern-day nomads. This service finds itself competing with alternative lodging platforms like Airbnb, Booking.com, and HotelsCombined, yet it differentiates itself by emphasizing the "value of community," attracting both long-term travelers and digital nomads.

Public Perception and Key Observations

Sense of Community

One of the most frequently mentioned benefits of using Coliving.com, as discussed across various posts, is its emphasis on community. Users appreciate the platform's focus on providing opportunities for networking and socializing, which is considered a distinct advantage over traditional lodging options like hotels or standalone vacation rentals. For individuals feeling isolated or disconnected, coliving typically offers a more integrated living experience where making connections is facilitated through shared amenities and living spaces. This is especially highlighted by users in communities that thrive on these aspects, such as Peniche, Portugal, and El Palmar de Vejer in Spain.

Varied Experience Quality

The feedback on Coliving.com is somewhat polarized with regard to the quality of the accommodations. Some users note that the experience can be hit-or-miss, which suggests inconsistencies in the quality of listings. This variability seems to stem from the diverse range of coliving setups featured on the site. Consequently, potential guests are advised to consider reviews and specific features of individual listings to make an informed decision.

Pricing Transparency

Another recurring theme concerns the transparency and competitiveness of pricing. Users have mentioned difficulty in finding direct booking options outside of the Coliving.com platform, which could potentially offer more cost-effective solutions. Even though Coliving.com is regarded as a useful aggregator for initial research, particularly for location-specific searches and user reviews, some users prefer to bypass the site in favor of booking directly with the property whenever possible to ensure better pricing and flexibility.

Suitability for Digital Nomads

Coliving.com is frequently mentioned in the context of facilitating digital nomad lifestyles, particularly for those who are new to the nomadic experience. The platform seems to play an important role in alleviating the apprehensions associated with solo traveling, by allowing instant immersion into a community of like-minded individuals. Additionally, locations like those in Thailand and Southeast Asia seem to cater specifically to individuals seeking coworking facilities alongside their living arrangements.

Conclusion

Coliving.com finds its niche by offering more than just lodgingsโ€”it provides potential community and networking opportunities, which are particularly appealing to modern nomads and solo travelers seeking connection and productivity. While the platform offers significant advantages for those looking to integrate into an existing community, areas for improvement remain in standardizing the quality of experiences and enhancing transparency in pricing. For users valuing community engagement in tandem with affordability and convenience, Coliving.com emerges as a valuable resource, albeit one to be navigated with due diligence.
