I also had good results with structured outputs, scraping news articles for city names from https://lite.cnn.com for the “in the news” list at https://weather.bingo - code here: https://www.jasonthorsness.com/13 I’ve had problems with hallucinations though even for something as simple as city names; also the model often ignores my prompt and returns country names - am thinking of trying a two-stage scrape with one... - Source: Hacker News / 15 days ago
This is off-topic, but I love that this website exists: https://lite.cnn.com/ It's so serene! - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago

> Did you know that CNN tries to run JavaScript from more than 30 domains on the front page, but is functional and ad-free after enabling 2 or 3? Might try https://lite.cnn.com. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
* https://lite.cnn.com/ But I think sites should be made more accessible/simpler to begin with, rather than having a competing implementation. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
> I live CNN lite: https://lite.cnn.com Such a refreshing site to see. It is like early 2000s internet before the introduction of the dynamic web. https://www.w3schools.com/asp/asp_ajax_intro.asp#:~:text=AJAX%20is%20a%20technique%20for,without%20reloading%20the%20whole%20page. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
> The article claims people think they want simplicity, but aren't willing to sacrifice anything to get it. I live CNN lite: https://lite.cnn.com I guess I am weird but the way websites are designed confuses the crap out of my brain. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

It's normal for there to be a timeout after which one has to agree to the TOS again. Might want to bookmark an unencrypted url like http://lite.cnn.com for this, as some https redirects don't work and the connection just appears to fail. Source: over 1 year ago
Bookmarking Legible News! I have been surviving on https://lite.cnn.com, https://text.npr.org/, and http://68k.news/, but your site is much easier on the eye, so will be taking it for a spin. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I prefer very lightweight (low bandwidth, fast response time) sites like text.npr.org and lite.cnn.com. I would love to some more minimal or text only sites if anyone has more suggestions. Source: over 1 year ago
Always enjoyed this, especially for catching up on a phone: https://lite.cnn.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Https://lite.cnn.com is my go to source. Extremely minimal and can look at all headlines so quickly. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I made a list of text-only or very low-stim websites and just use those for news headlines. For instance there's a text-only version of CNN at https://lite.cnn.com/. I also read Hacker News at https://news.ycombinator.com/news which is pretty minimalist. Source: over 1 year ago

> Film as a media is a far more potent vector for propaganda than print. I definitely agree with this, but in my perception the moving images themselves are secondary in effect to the audio. Tone of voice and emotive music in particular are very powerful methods of hacking emotions. When watching videos that I think are trying to be manipulative with music or tone of voice, I like to mute the audio and... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Https://lite.cnn.com/en It's the best way to get the news. No filler, no adds and it works on a 2g mobile. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

That a lite version exists is great, but if it's invisible (unless you know, and you enter the URL manually), it might as well not exist. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
I have tried to view cnn.com on a phone, that's why they provide https://lite.cnn.com/en. Admittedly, headline authorship has been discarded in favor of clickbait, and text isn't as eye-catching as images, so the site and articles are weirdly uncompelling when compared to the main site or other news sources. Celebrity gossip and scandals just fall flat in text, making it much easier to glean the handful of factual... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
> In the comments I mostly see "because of js and adtech", but is there a factual analysis somewhere ? I'm not sure what sort of analysis you're looking for, but different sites have different problems. I'm not convinced that averaging them makes sense, and it's very difficult to create a reasonable metric. As soon as you start measuring some specific metric, people will optimize for it whilst still making the... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
