I deployed CNPG (https://cloudnative-pg.io/ ) on my basement k3s cluster, and was very impressed with how easy I could host a PG instance for a service outside the cluster, as well as good practices to host DB clusters inside the cluster. Oh, and it handles replication, failover, backups, and a litany of other useful features to make running a stateful database, like postgres, work reliably in a cluster. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
If this setup seems complex, that's because it is. Especially if you consider that you might have multiple replicas which might also need to get scheduled on new nodes etc. In many ways, it resembles the Tower of Hanoi puzzleโcareful sequencing is key. That's why it's better to leverage some tools to help you out. Especially with Postgres, there is an operator that will act as Controller (cloudnativePG) that will... - Source: dev.to / 8 months ago

Which tools are you looking at? I asked earlier whether anyone here was using cloudnative-pg, no answer yet, but curious if it's among the tools you've checked out? Source: over 2 years ago
Yes, I meant to have the backing-store for the DB on storage local to the node the DB is running on. The deployment of the DB software can still be via openstack if that makes it easier. Something like CloudNativePG with local-path PVCs. Source: over 2 years ago

Then the question gets to how managed do you want the database? Are you looking for an easier way to spin up servers and handle backup/restores? If so, something like cloudnative-pg may work well for you. If you need it in the cloud on bare metal, YugabyteDB offers something like that. They tend to maintain pretty close PG compatibility, and are horizontally scalable in addition to being vertically scalable. Source: over 2 years ago
