There's so many opportunities that there are actually dedicated job boards specifically for that kind of work (e.x. https://climatebase.org/, https://terra.do/). Source: 11 months ago
Yeah, when it said 'show distance' I thought it would offer me jobs nearby/remote, but instead it's talking about an algorithm distance which probably nobody outside that specific domain really cares about. As for EV related jobs, what I have been doing is checking as many related conferences as I could find and EV related channels in YouTube and visit each one of the homepages for the companies. For conferences... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago

There are job boards now that focus exclusively on placing people at companies that are helping with climate change in numerous ways. Climatebase is the best one I've seen, and I've been to their job fairs and meetups before--they're legit. Source: about 1 year ago

Haha love it. Reminds me of something out of Game of Thrones. For anyone reading this poem who has a string negative reaction: Consider it a sign that perhaps there's something more you could be doing in your own life. Take a job in climate (https://workonclimate.org/ https://climatebase.org/). Start a startup. "Climate deniers" aren't really a problem. Complacency is bullshit though. Consider that future... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
There are lots of good resources for people switching to climate: climatebase, terra.do, climate tech VC, and climate draft being just a few. Based on the folks I know, people in this space are VERY open to talking to others about making the switch, especially from SaaS or traditional "tech" companies, so I wouldn't be afraid to get involved in those communities and ask for input! No, software jobs in climate are not limited. Take a look at the job board at https://climatebase.org. Thereβs a lot of work to do, and a lot of it is software. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago

Do your best. Defend your mental health. Be extremely skeptical about subreddits like r/collapse, whose readerships does a very small amount of reading past the headline, much less challenging sources or breaking away from their own self-reinforcement heuristics. Your post about Hydrology is a good thought, if you've made any forward progress on that, I know plenty of people working on American water resource... Source: over 1 year ago

Hello, I will be graduating upcoming spring and currently looking to learn some scientific programming in python so that I can better market myself to software jobs in the sustainability/conservation sectors. Looking through postings in a climatebase.org (its a climate related job board), a lot of them seem to be looking for someone with experience in Python and the keyword "scientific programming" pops up quite a... I suppose it depends on what you value. Recently I have been digging through Climatebase and Tech Jobs for Good. In the past I have also found some kinds of dev tools compelling, when they seemed like they would give people more power over their digital lives - this was part of what motivated my last job, trying to democratize ML a bit more.
