Adult cigar enthusiasts who already keep notes — usually on paper — and want them searchable. People with more than a handful of cigars, often spread across more than one box, who care what they smoked last year and what they thought of it. The app is restricted to adults: 21 and over in the United States, 18 and over elsewhere, verified by country.
Cigarino is a private record, not a marketplace. It sells no tobacco products, takes no commission on anything, carries no advertising in either tier, and links to no retailer. That is not a positioning choice — French law forbids advertising for tobacco, directly or indirectly, and the publisher is a French company. The usual way an app in a hobby category earns money was closed to us before we wrote a line, so we built something that earns its keep from the people who use it and from nothing else. What is left is a notebook: what you own, where it is, what you thought of it.
We won't tell you what the other apps do — we haven't tested them recently enough to say anything fair. What we can tell you is what this one does and does not do. It keeps an inventory across several humidors, it logs each smoke with a rating, a note, a photograph and a duration, and it keeps that history searchable. It does not sell anything, does not push you toward a shop, and does not show advertising. If that constraint matters to you, it is the whole difference. If it does not, judge the journal itself.
There are two of us, both developers, both cigar smokers. Like many enthusiasts we kept notes on paper: what we had smoked, what we made of it, what we meant to buy again. A notebook cannot be searched. It cannot be sorted by strength or origin, it does not remind you that you tried that shape last year and were not convinced, and it stays at home on the day you find yourself in front of a display case. So we built the tool we wanted to own. Fourteen and a half months went into it — first commit at the end of May 2025, published in August 2026.
