I use ipvanish on steamdeck for pirating movies and shows. I also use google https://remotedesktop.google.com/ to control my work computer without having to to go through windows l2tp vpn or cisco anyconnect. I help my mom all the time. She just bring up https://remotedesktop.google.com/ and then select the option to get help to generate a code. You just need to use chrome browser on another machine and enter the code. You should get a pop up asking for permission. Once approved you should be able to remotely control the Chromebook. You actually don't need it installed on the client machine, just the host machine. The client just needs a web browser. I haven't tested Safari, but it works fine in Edge, Chrome, and Firefox as the client. I use the native Microsoft RDP client as a first preference and Chrome Remote Desktop as a backup - I initially had issues with Microsoft RDP because my home pc isn’t connected to a monitor and I wasn’t getting an image remotely so was using chrome Remote Desktop as an alternative.
