Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing CarrierChk.
  1. Which are the primary technologies used for building CarrierChk?

CarrierChk is built on Node.js and Express for the backend, hosted on a Linux VPS with Cloudflare handling CDN and security. Carrier data is sourced directly from FMCSA's official endpoints and a dedicated PostgreSQL database containing the full FMCSA dataset of over 4 million US carriers. The frontend uses clean HTML, CSS with the Geist font system, and vanilla JavaScript for fast load times.

  2. What makes CarrierChk unique?

Most carrier lookup tools either charge you, make you create an account, or dump raw government data on your screen with zero context. CarrierChk does none of that. You get all the FMCSA data — safety rating, authority status, OOS rates, insurance, inspection history, and the carrier owner name — on one clean page, completely free, no signup required. The owner name piece is something even SAFER Web doesn't show you, which matters a lot when you're trying to verify you're actually talking to the right person before handing over a load.

  3. Why should a person choose CarrierChk over its competitors?

Simple — it's free, fast, and actually readable. Carrier411 charges a monthly fee. SAFER Web makes you dig through multiple pages of government formatting to find basic information. CarrierChk pulls everything into one clean view in seconds. No subscription, no account, no learning curve. If you're a freight broker, dispatcher, or shipper who needs to verify a carrier quickly before booking a load, CarrierChk gives you everything you need without the friction.

  4. How would you describe the primary audience of CarrierChk?

Freight brokers, truck dispatchers, and shippers operating in the United States who need to quickly verify carrier compliance before booking loads. These are people who check multiple carriers daily and need accurate FMCSA data fast — without paying for a tool or navigating government websites. Anyone in the US freight and logistics industry who works with motor carriers is a natural fit.

  5. What's the story behind CarrierChk?

CarrierChk was built out of a real frustration with how painful carrier verification is in the freight industry. Every time you need to vet a carrier, you end up on SAFER Web trying to decode walls of government text across multiple pages — and after all that, you still don't know the owner's name to verify who you're actually talking to. CarrierChk was built under King Dispatch LLC to solve that specific problem — pulling all the FMCSA data into one clean, readable page that anyone in freight can use without training or a subscription.

  6. Who are some of the biggest customers of CarrierChk?

Freight brokers using it for daily carrier vetting before booking loads. Truck dispatchers verifying carrier authority and safety ratings for their clients. Shippers confirming carrier compliance before tendering freight. Logistics coordinators cross-checking carrier credentials during onboarding.
