Meditation. try the calm app or calm.com for sleep stories or sleep body scans. Source: about 3 years ago
If I purchase the Calm membership through the app store, will the rebate still post? I saw in the details it specified "calm.com." Does anyone know for sure? Source: almost 4 years ago
I found Waking Up to require more effort than calm.com (or headspace). The latter apps tend to focus on simple things: e.g. Focus on your breathing whereas Waking Up is actually much more about challenging your beliefs of what it even means to exist. Source: almost 4 years ago
Also for now I am selling Calm.com 1 Year Family Account for $7. Source: about 4 years ago
I don't do full yoga but trying out calm.com and just some mind clearing meditation daily is great for unclenching the upper stomach muscles around the diaphragm that you don't realize clench from day-to-day stress. I remember wanting to try it when I was younger because I've always had an issue with holding onto anger and frustration but was told the whole "emptying your mind lets Satan in" business. No they don't let you pull up specific music or arbitrary sounds (say, calm.com stuff as an exmaple) but there are multiple selections in the app -- Yes it is only their library of sounds you can listen to, but there are nature sounds, soundscapes (think ambient / drone music, something you'd hear in a spa) and of course masking sounds like white noise. Even the masking sounds are nice and varied though, my... Source: over 4 years ago
Calm.com is a Website/app that focused on relaxation. I believe all the sound scenes are available without a subscribtion. Source: almost 5 years ago

Calm has established its reputation as a leading app in the meditation, health and fitness, sleep, and focus categories, largely due to its wide range of features tailored to enhance mental well-being. The app offers an expansive collection of guided meditations, soundscapes, sleep stories, and daily meditation series, designed to help users achieve better sleep, relaxation, and mindfulness.
Comprehensive Content: Calm is lauded for its extensive library that includes various soundscapes and meditations. Users appreciate the diversity ranging from relaxing office noises to nature-themed soundscapes like rain and thunder (described as one of the app's unique offerings). Additionally, features like the Daily Calm sessions and the recently introduced Daily Trip guided by Jeff Warren are highly praised for fostering relaxation and mindfulness.
Celebrity Narrations: The inclusion of sleep stories narrated by well-known personalities like Matthew McConaughey and LeBron James adds a unique appeal, drawing more users due to the familiarity and trust associated with these figures.
User Experience: The app's clean design and user-friendly interface contribute to a seamless onboarding process, with users able to personalize their experience by setting goals like reducing anxiety or improving focus.
Diverse Target Audience: Calm caters to a wide demographic, including a dedicated section for children, Calm Kids, which provides guided meditations for ages 3 to 17. This inclusivity ensures that users of all ages can benefit from its offerings.
Cost: While the appโs premium features are extensive, Calm has faced criticism over its monetization strategy. It offers limited free content, with a majority of its valuable resources locked behind a subscription paywall. This is a significant counterpoint in discussions comparing Calm to competitors like Headspace and Ten Percent Happier, which sometimes offer more affordable options.
Competitor Comparison: Although Calm holds a strong position in the market, some critics see apps like Ten Percent Happier as more effective for targeted meditation training. Others argue that certain alternatives provide a more structured or value-for-money approach.
Public sentiment towards Calm is largely favorable, especially with its recent expansions and celebrity endorsements, which enhance its social proof and public appeal. It is frequently positioned as a top-tier meditation app alongside Headspace and considered one of the best in its category. The ease of integration, from a single app platform to both web and mobile applications, further solidifies its status. However, the pricing model remains a point of contention, potentially limiting access for prospective users who seek more budget-friendly meditation and mindfulness solutions.
In conclusion, Calm's robust content offers an extensive selection for users seeking relaxation and mindfulness, though its premium pricing could deter potential subscribers. The appโs ongoing improvements and innovative partnerships underscore its commitment to maintaining relevance and utility in the competitive wellness app space.
