The last time I used Dreamweaver was in 2009 when I was putting together a site at a small business, my first job after college in a recession-hit market. These days I know HTML/CSS pretty well, but do still use a DW-style tool to build simple websites without an IDE: Bootstrap Studio[0]. With a customizable barebones Bootstrap grid system under the hood. It's pretty powerful, GUI-based flexbox positioning, custom... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

If you use Bootstrap and are more towards "static" websites, I recommend Bootstrap Studio (https://bootstrapstudio.io/). I used it on and off. Last time, I used it to make one-off HTML, then edit the rest by hand (meaning, I can't return to the app again to make changes). But recently, I used it to develop https://momenial.com/ with 100% editing in the app. Meaning I can use the app to make changes. I _do_ still... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Bootstrap Studio - Price: $29-59 ("one-time" purchase, only for $59 option, the other has 1 year free updates after that you're out) A powerful desktop app for creating responsive websites using the Bootstrap framework. Source: about 3 years ago
I adopted this mentality a few years ago and it's served me very well. Pro tip to anyone looking to do the same without losing the benefits of SquareSpace's WYSIWYG editor: try out Bootstrap Studio [0], which gives you a visual editor but also full control over the CSS and the ability to create reusable components. The licensing is also user-friendly (doesn't require a subscription). [0]: http://bootstrapstudio.io. - Source: Hacker News / about 3 years ago

Fair fair. Most of the services have export functions to take your code offline, not sure if Softr does. But anycase, if you don't want to use a no-code web-based builder, then you can try something like Bootstrap Studio to build with Bootstrap CSS. It's drag and drop too, but needs a little more work (i.e. Gotta read the bootstrap docs to understand how to compartmentalize components. But it's still easy once you... Source: over 3 years ago

Interesting. But why use Figma at all? Note, that's not a knock on this idea / product. It's more about why use Figma? In the past, I've used BootstrapStudio (https://bootstrapstudio.io/), which to me makes sense especially when there are still - in 2022!??!? - people using Photoshop to do "web design". The end product is something in the browser, so why isn't design + code done in the browser? Why generate a PNG... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago

This is awesome! Thank you so much for sharing this. I've been trying to figure out how to set up ecommerce on Google Sites. I'd not seen the Reflow Toolkit before -- https://reflowhq.com/ -- from there I found your BootStrap Studio -- https://bootstrapstudio.io/ -- These look like amazingly easy tools to work with. I used Bootstrap Studio for mine. You need to be at least very slightly familiar with how websites work to make that work, but its a really easy way to put together a custom site on the cheap. They even host it for free (the software is a one time $29 though). I think its a great deal. Source: over 4 years ago
I have not yet found one, but Tailwind desperately needs its own Bootstrap Studio! I posted on the Tailwind GitHub almost a YEAR ago asking the same question, and never received a single response. I suspect it is because one doesn't exist yet, which is why I am here now. Source: over 4 years ago
Bootstrap Studio has garnered a generally positive reception among users looking for a robust tool for designing responsive web pages using the Bootstrap framework. Its strengths stem from its blend of ease-of-use for beginners, thanks to its intuitive drag-and-drop interface, and the depth of control it offers experienced developers through customizable features.
User Experience and Flexibility
A prominent feature highlighted by users is the drag-and-drop functionality, making Bootstrap Studio particularly appealing to non-technical users or beginners who might lack comprehensive coding skills. It allows them to create responsive designs seamlessly. Despite this user-friendly interface, the software does not shy away from providing skilled developers with a high degree of control over HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and SASS, catering to more advanced users who wish to delve deeper into code customization.
Responsive Design and Framework Compatibility
Bootstrap Studio shines in responsive website design, incorporating features such as automatic detection and resizable columns. This functionality, aligned with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) approach, ensures that users can manipulate and visualize design changes effectively. It fully supports the Bootstrap framework, accommodating both Bootstrap 3 and Bootstrap 4, and facilitates easy conversions between these versions. This compatibility is a noted advantage for those committed to leveraging Bootstrap for their web development projects.
Templates and Component Library
A broad array of templates and widgets enhances the attractiveness of Bootstrap Studio. Users appreciate the availability of premium responsive templates and a comprehensive library of built-in components. These resources accelerate the website building process by allowing users to quickly integrate pre-designed elements, thereby speeding up project turnaround times.
Integration and Export Capabilities
Bootstrap Studio positions itself uniquely with its ability to export designs seamlessly. Users often cite the export function as a significant benefit, allowing them to take static HTML and CSS creations and integrate them into larger development projects with ease. The tool avoids the pitfalls of a "walled garden," providing flexibility to continue refining and developing projects outside the application environment, a valuable feature for developers looking for interoperability.
Licensing and Cost
From a commercial standpoint, Bootstrap Studio is well-regarded for its cost-effective pricing model. Unlike many subscription-based software solutions, it offers a one-time payment option, which is increasingly appealing to both individual developers and smaller businesses. This pricing structure is favorable for those who prefer not to commit to recurring costs.
Limitations and Areas for Improvement
Despite its many strengths, some users point out limitations, such as the inability to import existing designs back into the tool for further editing, which can restrict iterative design workflows. Additionally, while Bootstrap Studio is robust, its functionality is inherently tied to the Bootstrap framework, which might not be suitable for users seeking broader design flexibility outside of this system.
Overall, Bootstrap Studio is considered a powerful tool for responsive web design, balancing user-friendly design operations with advanced customization capabilities, backed by a cost-effective pricing model, making it a preferred choice among both beginners and seasoned developers in specific use cases centered around Bootstrap.
